Why do dragon Shouts svck ....

Post » Tue Sep 25, 2012 8:28 pm

so Ive gotten quite a number of shouts under my belt and ive noticed something

why does only Unrelenting force grow in power as you unlock more words?

1st it starts out as nothing then it staggers and then it teaches your enemies how to fly

but rest of the shouts no matter how many words you have for the shout it feels and looks the same it barely increases the amount of time the shout is active for

like with slow time it increases the duration by about 5 seconds if activate all 3 words

what i was hoping it would do was make it slow then with second shout make it slow but allow me to move at a normal pace and then with the 3rd word make everything stand still like it does when that phyjiic monk shows up

My shouts seem to increase in power as I get more words. All three of the fire breath is pretty destructive for example. Some shouts are more effective than others, i;ll give you that though.

slow time increases the speed that you move while slowing your enemies speed with each word unlocked. I dont have your problem til I reach a high level( Yol Toor Shul gets pretty weak).

So says the guy who has never used a full Marked for Death shout on anybody.

My advice is to go try out your other ones because one of two things is happening in your game:

1) You aren't using full shouts
2) Your shouts are glitched

Well, no not really. At around level 60, Fire Breath and even Sour Tear are pretty useless. Sure I can still one-shot-kill poor banditos, but anything stronger than that will survive.

Hell, I'm level 50 and a regualr wolf survived the Fire Breath.

Soul tear is meant to be used when an enemy is close to death anyway, so you can resurrect it.

That's crap. According to the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Marked_for_Death with all three words you do 3 points of damage/sec for 60 secs or 180 points in total. That will hardly matter against a deathlord when you are above Lev. 60.

I forgot to say that in my case I also have the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Fire_Within#The_Fire_Within by Paarthurnax and it's still useless.

What you're not seeing is the damage to armor, guy. That makes a VERY big difference.

Works well with archery too, actually. Mages are the only ones who wouldn't benefit.

So, you first go close up and personal with your enemies to http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Marked_for_Death them, so that their armor is gone, and then you run like hell far away to snipe them with your bow? Good strategy, kudos

The description on marked for death makes it obvious that it is best for those who use weapons, since magic isnt effected by someone's armor rating.

Yea, since you dont need to get that close to them, and they die fast. You should know what you're talking about before you criticize. Run like hell? I dont run. I'm a good Skyrim player.

If you did, you'd know that an archer doesnt need huge amounts of distance, especially with a powerful bow, and the stun perk. And a full marked for death shout has a pretty good distance anyway. Enough for medium ranged combat with a bow, which is all a knowledgeable archer needs.

Sigh... whatever. This is dragging too long. In any case, when most people RP an archer they (including me) don't fight from short (1~2 paces) to medium (5~10 paces) distances but from afar (20+ paces away), as it would be silly for an archer to be in the front lines. Also, some people might have a tank follower to take the punishment while they sit comfortrably far away (20+ paces) from harms way and snipe the bad guys easily.

Of course, anyone may choose to play their game as they wish
