Why a "dragonborn-sized" new expansion is a problem

Post » Fri Feb 08, 2013 11:43 pm

With my current character i have finished the main questlines of Skyrim and Dawnguard.I have also finished 80% of other quests and explored about 80% of the places( i havent explored many dunmer ruins which means i have a lot of exploring to do).I havent started dragonborn. So my character is lvl 63.I have maxed one skill at 100(lockpicking)and another one(archery) is close. Some of my skills are close to 90 and i have a couple of them( pickpocketing, Alchemy) below 50.I believe that when i finish dragonborn my character will be around level 75 with many of my usefull skills at 100 or close. I will have to agressively raise my other skills like pickpocketing to reach level 81.

So a Dragonborn-sized new expansion will be a problem.Since i will be at level 75 with skills like one handed and two handed at 100 whats the purpose of the new expansion? To go to the new world and start pickpocket everyone i see? My personal view is that unless they reform leveling somehow with the new expansion then the new expansion is going to be a needless expansion

Never really thought about that but you bring up valid points.

However, I don't think it posed a problem when Dawnguard was released though.

whats the purpose of the new expansion?
This may come as a shock to you, but many of us create more than one character. It may be a problem to you but it is not a problem to me.

Even with a new character you can easily raise you skill around 75 without doing a new expansion

Yeah I have 4 characters. My highest is an 81, but my lowest is a 15 right now. The purpose of a new expansion, if we get one, is to be played.

It won't be such a problem for people who don't complete everything on one character. ;)
I think vanilla Skyrim could use a level slowing fix/option, however. Where all skills take 2 to 3 times more use to increase. Thank gosh for PC mods, but Beth should have this option for console players. I hate being only a few hours into the game and having leveled up more than once.

Then why make expansions at all if that's your reasoning...

A million times this. I love it when thread titles are stated as facts, not opinions..that's what this is..an opinion.

Level to play, don't play to level.

I wouldn't want Bethesda to hold back a big DLC and thus major plot developments and interesting quests, simply because someone is bored of levelling up...

If you are at a stage where you have levelled up everything that you feel you need, then that just means that you think your set to take on more quests.

I don't know, to experience new content and interesting quests? I don't think I've ever let levelling determine what I wan't to do in Skyrim.

I, like many others I'm sure, tend to pretty much ignore level, and play a story. Leveling is secondary to me at least.
