Why Dragonborn will come to Xbox first

Post » Tue Nov 06, 2012 4:27 am

There is one simple reason that they are doing this. Its because we all let them. We all moaned about Dawnguard coming to Xbox first but we all still purchased it. If they knew that by releasing it early on on Xbox they would lose money then they wouldn't do it. Its simple, pc players just don't buy this dlc. Either don't buy it or get it from some other source that does not benefit Bethseda.
Take a stand so that this crap never happens again. The only way to get through to a company is to lower their profit

You're right, corporations treat customers the way customers let themselves be treated. But there are millions of customers who care enough to complain, but don't care enough to boycott.

Plain and simple, platform exclusivity has existed since the Nintendo and Sega Genesis era, and customers have tolerated it for 20 years. Customers aren't going to suddenly smarten up and stop accepting this business practice.

Simply put, gamers are willing to subject themselves to [censored] business practices because they care more about playing the games than they do about not getting ripped off and jerked around.

When you consider how many xbox users there are, as well as big handouts from Microsoft, perhaps Bethesda don't really care about other platforms like they should.

This is why I don't watch any movies any more, because they all seem to have this exclusive thing where the theaters get to show them first and I refuse to change out of my pajamas and drive over there. If they can't feed them to me on cable or Netflix the same day the big screen distributors get a copy, I'm just never going to watch them. Ever. That'll show 'em! :P

We need a gamers union so that all gamers can stand up against crap like this and actually be heard. It works in other industries why not here

And game developers wonder why there are so many people willing to pirate their games *sigh*

Exclusivity, console ports, poor platform optimization, DRM . . . it's all to protect the profit margins, but in the end it makes people angry and drives disaffection.

Xbox users do not outnumber PC OR PS3 users. Ps3 users alone account for about 30% of Skyrim users.

Because Microsoft is working its http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace,_extend_and_extinguish angle. Their target is not BGS, but Sony, Nintendo, Steam.

Embrace: The X-Box series itself.

Extend: Timed exclusivity deals in exchange for money. We're getting more and more of them as we can see.

Exterminate: Eventually, I predict, Microsoft will arm-twist the dev companies: "Permanent exclusivity or else we bar you from publishing on the X-Box/jack up your licensing fees/do some other anti-competitive behavior."

I wonder why Bethesda didn't take that into account when signing deals with Microsoft.
