Why do Dunmer have wrinkles under their eye?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:30 pm

Is this a lore thing? Or did Betheseda just make them look like a stress freak or just look old?

Last I checked all the races appear to have a wrinkle problem (particularly females.)

They were cursed by Azura. They are not supposed to look kawaii.

Not the normal laugh lines. He's talking about the deep "I've been working out in the sun in tomato fields my whole life" lines and furrows that the Dunmer have under the eyes, along the forehead and above the upper lip. They look like they've led very hard, cigarette-smoking, booze drinking lives. The other Elven and Human races aren't like that.

They just got an ashed skin, I doubt Azura said "I'm cursing you people by giving you ugly wrinkles". :P On a more serious note, it's just their default setting, you can remove em.

No, you can't remove them. Only mods can do that. Some of us don't play on the PC and are screwed in that department along with every single char having weird lines on the end of their noses.

I still can't believe that little oversight. It's literally right there staring you in the face as soon as you start the game.

As for the dark elves, it's an interesting direction to take it, and I think it makes the male dunmer look pretty bad%$#, but "wizened" isn't how I want to have to describe an entire race of females in a fantasy game. Thank you, mods.

Well not completely, but they don't have any bigger wrinkles than other characters do. Weird lines on the end of the noses are nasolabial lines, and most people in real life have em. :P

I hate it too. I was able to cover them up by lowering the eyes, raising the cheekbones adding an unwanted War Paint. But I can live with the WP a little easier than the wrinkles.

The nose lines are bad. As well as, the Breton forehead wrinkles. It makes them look Krogan.

At least in Skyrim they don't resemble unisix baby-faced smurfs like in Oblivion. :)

Look at the bright side folks... At least in Skyrim they got rid of the mid-life crisis haircut for elves that was present in Oblivion.

Just look at Mankar Camoran or Valen Dreth:

Hey Frank

They have lost their homeland, so it's natural that they would be stressed out. But Skyrim makes everyone look ancient.

Pretty sure that haircut's http://onirome.fr/skyrim/images/6/6a/Ancano.png, it just looks a little less absurd with modern graphics.

Yeah, pretty much everyone race looks too aged. Some artist probably got enthusiastic just for having the ability to do that with this engine. Now we all have to live with it.

I don't mind the smoothness of the Oblivion faces, but the shapes were just.. almost so bad I didn't want to play sometimes. I don't even understand how that happened.

Yeah, but they replaced it for women with two stupid anime-inspired things. Flying braids and knobs on the head. I can't take the master Destruction trainer seriously. She looks like a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Faralda.

All dunmer work night shifts, are ex-smokers and use dremora for more than just one type of combat. This my friend is a confirmed fact.
