Why is everyone so against the MQ and it's involvement?

I boggles my mind. This expansion is called

*gasp*

Dragonborn

The trailer says "did you think you were the only one?" The entire expansion is made and participated in under the pretense that you know you ARE Dragonborn.

Why is everyone so appalled by this idea? Is like you people are shocked Bethesda might assume you've actually participated in the main quest and actually played the game for the reason it was made, to involve yourself with the storyline. Yes, folks. Shocker. But that's their main goal.

The main quest is not some hostile creature, so I don't get why people avoid it. At the very least do it once. If you're a fan of Bethesda and their games, maybe their main quest and goal in the game might be fun yeah? Hurr?

Dragonborn insinuates you know you're the Dragonborn, aka either participated or finished the main quest. And you know what? That's just fine with me.

Some roleplayers, like me, would rather not have to make our character some sacred figure just do we can play the DLC.

The main quest is one of the better ones. The best parts of the game is just the TES openworld-ness.. but quest wise, the main one is good. And I can't say that for many of them. So yeah, I don't know why anyone would go out of their way to avoid it.

The character has always been the hero, it's up to you whether you want to do the quest-line. Whining about the continuation of the base story in the game is a little silly. Did people complain about Tribunal?

Even when said dlc is ABOUT said sacred figure? That makes no sense. That's like ordering a hamburger and saying hold the beef. Zero sense. You say you really want a hamburger, but you hate beef. So you order a hamburger and complain about the beef.

Seems like a bullet to one's foot. TES are always centered around the premise of the player character being some hero of prophecy.

I can understand roleplayers being annoyed, as Im one of them.
I just get through it as fast as I can and pretend it never happened :)

If its the items you want, just use a console command to skip the quests.

I mean sure, if you don't want your toon to be a sacred religious figure don't do the MQ and don't buy the dlc. But don't complain about it. Because you aren't willing to do what is necessary for the story to come to fruition. My hamburger scenario fits exactly this.
