Two days ago I was about to pre order Fallout 4 from the Xbox Store in the Colombia region, as I just got the money to do so now. But before I did it, I noticed how expensive it is; the base version is 233.000 COP, which is, as today, 81 USD. And the bundle with the season pass is 333.200 COP, which is 115 USD. I don't understand why Bethesda does this. These are digital games, after all, and other pre orders, like Star Wars Battlefront, Halo 5, AC Syndicate, and Rainbow Six Siege, are around 60 USD, which is the normal price for a new video game. This is also happening in the PS4 version of the game, which costs around 77 USD on the PSN Store. And not only in Colombia, but also in Chile and Brazil.
This is ridiculous, I want Fallout 4 so so so bad. It is the game I've been most hyped for, ever, as my favorite video game of all time is New Vegas. But I can't and won't pay this much for a single video game. I'm sorry, Bethesda.

Make a US PSN account, buy US dollar PSN cards online and buy the game on that.

I only have an Xbox One. And I can't buy it on the US Store because my billing address is in Colombia 馃槙. Physical versions of the game arrive here almost a month after launch.

There is a way..

Use google maps pick a bogus US adres for your xb1 account (its all digital, so no need for real address), make a Paypal account, link the paypal account to the US xbox account and use bank transfer/credit card/scratch cards to top off the paypall account.

Now when the game asks you how you want to pay pick paypal, done

Your argument is with the Columbia XBox One store - not Bethesda.

Ask them why they are jacking the price up so much over MSRP.

I believe DLC is region locked, so a US account with a US hardcopy works fine.. however a US hardcopy with a French account can cause issues where dlc wont work etc.

this is not the case for all games tho.

I'm fairly certain Bethesda isn't responsible for the pricing differences between countries. Considering you seem to want to purchase digitally through the Xbox Live store instead of waiting a month for the physical copy, I would recommend contacting the Xbox Live support department for more information.

TBH I've never understood the pricing differences for digital copies myself.

where I live in the US鈥?it costs 59.99 + 8% sales tax = $64.79 USD or $186,854.36 COP

I asked them via Twitter @XboxSupport. They say the publishers/devs are the ones that fix the prices and that I should ask Bethesda.

The point is that the game is way too expensive. And this isn't region-related. Other new games are 159k COP, which is around 59 USD. Why is Fallout 4 base game more expensive?

OP said the pricing of other new games like Syndicate, Halo 5, Siege and Battlefront are all around the usual $60, while Fallout 4 has a radically different pricing. Otherwise I would agree that it seems to be associated with taxes, but it seems odd that one game would have a different price when purchased through the same distributor (Xbox Live).

The developers wouldn't be responsible, but I suppose publishers could be. That's crazy though if that's the case.
