Why so harsh on the game?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 4:03 pm

Here's few threads/posts i've seen.

OMZG im playing on hardest difficulty and this game is too hard, im going to trade this game tomorrow.
Moron, lower the difficulty.

I played half and hour and this game is too easy, i have healing spell in left hand and fire spell in right hand and i just run backwards and burn everything in sight. Im going to trade this game.
You puss, fight like a man and stop exploiting an obvious flaw in the game. (oh btw, it wont work once you fight high level enemies)

Beth is full of [censored]! This bush is not 3d by any means, they lied to us and this is a game braker for me. i'll trade the game tomorrow.
Dude, did you seriously spend half an hour staring at a bush or a rock. Just play the game. Idiot.

PC version of the game is ugly as [censored], poor port from console version. This game has so bad graphics that i cant even play the game. I'll trade it in.
What did you expect? Some uber beautifull graphics? That wont happens since consoles have 5 or 6 year old hardware and they just ported the game to PC. Live with it or GTFO!

OMG, that river isn't flowing naturally, the flow of the water makes 90 degree turn. Game braker fo sho, i'll trade this game.
Do you honestly care how the mother [censored] water flows? You sir, are an [censored].

Ugh, the snow is not dynamic at all like Beth claimed, i cant play the game without REAL dynamic weather system. i'll trade this to BF3.
Why would you give a rats ass if the snow is not dynamic! There are other things to do in this game than staring a stone and waiting for the snow to pile up.

Im truly amazed how some people act here in the forums. Perhaps most people had too high expectations for this game. So far im loving it and havent found anything i would call a gamebraker! Im on xbox 360 btw.

I think people are so frustrated as it's not so much the fact they built up there own unrealistic expectations, more so the fact the devs made the game sound like something it really isn't in terms of graphics. They dished out false accomplishments. Attention to detail my ass. I understand consoles are old etc but oblivions textures I seem to favour more.

It works the other way too, i'm harder on the game than i would be normally, simply because the sheer number of fan boys/girls. People praising the game as the best thing since sliced bread, and spamming the forum get on my nerves.

The PC UI did get trashed, and the number of bugs are astonishing to be honest, by far the most of any Beth game.

You will find that some people will complain just about anything, I am loving this game I know there is a few bugs and glitches but hopefully Bethesda will sort them out soon.

For a console gamer like my self, this is by far the best looking open world RPG out there. Seems like the people who trash the game are PC gamers with theyr 2500$ rig's. Once the mods start pouring in you guys get what you asked for, not from Beth but by fellow PC gamers. We console gamers are stuck what ever Beth dishes at our way.

The irony of complaining about the complainers.

All you can do is encourage people to take the time to check it out.

We live in a very fast moving age where we're used to getting our way straight away.

Information is ours in a flash from the internet and 24/7 news.

We're not used to not having the full picture and that makes people uncomfortable.

I can't understand why anyone would use fast travel (at least on a regular basis) but then there are people who can't believe that I would walk from one city to another when I could take the Game equivalent of a free cab ride.

If we want people to be more understanding about the game then it helps to try and be a little more understanding about them and where they are coming from.

Bugs, Really? I'm playing on xbox and only found 2 bugs 16 hours in, it was just some guy who was walking on air for like 2 secs. Not a big deal. but I do agree with you some people are acting like this game is perfect and its not. It has flaws just like any other game. Nonetheless still amazing!

I'm playing the PC version. Besides the UI, I haven't run into any bugs that I remember...Did you all just get some half broken version or what?

Generalisation is also a poor attitude and some PC users can be just as elitist, I'm playing this on a PS3 so I'm a console gamer by definition?

Ah but..

I have built my own PC's for 20 years and have 2 gaming desktops and a gaming laptop partnering my 80Gb PS3 fat and a PS3 320 slim, I think I have a pretty good idea about PC hardware and software.

On Topic...

It's true there have been some incredible cases of teddy tossing when complaining about the game so far but those saying it's fine are mistaken. There are flaws, maybe some will prove to be game breakers but that's subjective but some of the flaws that need addressing will put the polish on the game that the review scores would suggest already exists. The console port argument is completely valid as no secret had ever been made as to the development strategy but graphical flaws in a game where the visuals are a cornerstone of the immersiveness should be minimised.

I'm not talking about dynamic weather, watching snow pile up won't increase a skill anyway ;) , more the texture loading issues some have noted, the polygonal breakup (didn't that problem plague Fallout 3 early on?)

Snow falling through the walls and ceiling of an interior (I have only seen this once in the early quest and the tower wasn't pristine but the walls would have blocked the snow tbh)

Shadows seem very poorly implemented and saying play the game is all well and good but immersion again takes a hit when the NPC you are talking to is flickering away like a set of dodgy Xmas lights.

For my part, I won't be trading the game, I'll be playing it as I enjoy the ES world but until the bugs are addressed, it will be a less enjoyable experience than it could be.

Although I agree that some people are too harsh on the game, complaining about complainers, especially by calling them idiots and morons, doesn't really contribute anything to the discussion about the game.

I have to agree with OP. I've logged 23 hours into this game and I plan to keep that number rising as soon as my Xbox cools down. I'm just enamored with this game, and I logged on here to see if other people love it as much as I do. Of course, I have to sift through a dozen nitpicking threads before I found one that discusses the game in a positive light.

People have a opinions, I get that, but damn, guys. Skyrim is the [censored], there's no need to be so petty when its awesomeness just overshadows everything.

Agree with the OP 100%.
There's nothing wrong with reporting a bug or a flaw, but a lot of people here seem to go in dramatic overdrive. 'Gamebreaker', 'money back', 'never gonna buy a beth game again', blah blah blah. Go play super mario or something.

On every forum you will get people who have nothing else better to do than complain (as if it does any good). If I dont like a game I sell it,I dont blast the forums saying this that and the other.

agreed that there is too much negative feedback on the game, which is magnificent. some people just aren't able to appreciate things for what they are, and feel the need to criticize everything. they don't understand the sacrifice between adding questing content to a game and having thousands of 50 mb rock textures.

The interesting part is that I find the graphics in Skyrim to be stunning. Mainly because of how large the world is, and how long the draw distance is.

Idiots that expect flawless graphics in an un-instanced, open-world game with hundreds of NPCs and countless monsters roaming the land, not to mention dragons, have no idea what that would do to their console, or their PC.

To be honest Oblivion's textures looked sharper to me imho on my PS3 than Skyrim does right now but it seems to be texture streaming bugs on both consoles but I really love this game! When the mods start rolling out, the whining should wind down considerably.
