Why hasn't there been any gameplay videos since E3?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 11:31 am

The graphics are objectively better than Fallout 3 and even Skyrim, that it doesn't live up to the super high standards some people have is a personal problem for them. But it is better.

And how can anyone think that it's to samey? Bethesda showed us a 20+ min reveal trailer with all kinds of things that are new.

Exactly how have they not communicated or shown us things different from Fallout 3? Showing us the voice acting, the pre-war story, the settlement building, completely new Power Armor, extensive weapon modding, completely new armor system, need i go on?

How can people complain about there not being enough things to see when they clearly havent even seen what has actually been shown? Seems like there is no point in releasing more gameplay footage for those people because they apparently don't watch it anyway.

Seriously thanks to the Reddit bunch you can now get all the spoilerification you can handle.

It's actually gotten to the point that some that allowed spoilers are now thinking maybe allowing spoilers was not a good idea since something big happens right off.....(gee like Todd saying we are not showing what happens in the vault was not warning enough?)

Yeah I saw that and do regret it now.

Spoiler
But at least I know now what not to waste time on at the beginning of the game.
DAMN.

I don't know... I think the graphics in the leaked vids look really subpar, but the animations in all the footage I've seen of FO4 have looked more than decent. The exceptions: lip-sync, and guns bob up and down way too fast when running in first-person.

Can you give me an example in the e3 footage of poor animations? I'm usually quite sensitive to stuff like this.

I should have specified since I was referring to facial animations more than anything, some of the other stuff like third-person walking and running actually looks good. Can't say the same for dogmeat's running animation however...

And this is where I go fully dark. This forum is sadly just complaining now, and I know a major spoiler will eventually slip...

Also seen some footage, honestly I think it all looks great. Either people are just super high expectations or I have damn low expectations. Either way, it seems I will be the one enjoying the game while others either cry about everything they see or stopped their pre-order because they didnt like something.

Yes and no. I agree that Beth should have released game play footage over the last few months. So yes, they did bring it on themselves. But the leaks would have happened anyway.

And reading Pete's twitter account he doesn't sound too worried anyway. As long as people do not spoil the main story he knows it is good to hype the game. Saves them having to spend money on marketing.

Ahhhh, that's good to know. I spent a bit of time on reddit yesterday looking at dribs and drabs and felt i was close to clicking things i didn't want to know just yet. I'm a curious bugger and sometimes just can't help myself. Nice to know there's potentially some Bethesda official stuff just around the corner.

Time to the release date was plodding along nicely until the leaks started seeping out now it seems to have stood still.

You know, I'm not trying to defend Beth since I've never been a fan or better yet, a blind fan, of any game company but, seriously guys, we're practically next door to launch and you are worried or disappointed that no more official gameplay has been shown? I guess the ancients were right, "The greatest virtue is patience and the most misunderstood."

It's funny, btw, that many have played the Just Cause 3 demo and YouTube is littered with a lot of JC3 gameplay footage and one would think that such early playthrough could dampen the "surprise" or whatever - even lower the sales. But on the contrary, JC3 has gone gold already. And many people, like myself, can't wait to play this game. The thought that showing too much gameplay early on could affect a game in a negative way is not always true.

Anyways, you guys should feel lucky that you'll get to play FO4 on Nov 10. As for me, I don't know if I ever going to play the game this year or next year because of the STUPID ASS tactic of Bethesda; the one they pulled to those fans with weak internet speeds and limited cap.

Isn't that the way most publishers are doing it? I mean, on PC your greatest limitation is DVD-ROM which can hold 4.7 gb and double that with DL. But that still doesn't come close to a full game with the size of some of these new ones. What would you have Beth do instead? They can't FORCE people to use bluray. I guess they could put it on like 4 DVD's? That still seems really silly to me. I'd figure the amount of people that have limitations on internet speeds and data caps is pretty underwhelming. I didn't even realize data caps were that big of an issue for people with home internet. Like, what's your cap if 30gb is gonna kill it??

Everything I've seen from the leaks looks good, except for the dialogue system. It's a step in the wrong direction (imo), though it could've worked. Limited to four options is crippling, but I can live with it. Vague dialogue options? At least you pretty much know what you're going to say. But then they made one of the options "Sarcasm". It would've been okay if it were "Sarcasm (Funny)" or "Sarcasm (Rude)", but no. Just "sarcasm".

I don't want to get into this matter here because there's another thread in here that deals with this issue. You'll find plenty of insights about the matter there. I still have hope that I won't have to download 75% of the game. I always buy physical versions because of my weak Internet speeds. Most big AAA companies still do business as usual - physical versions with the full game inside or the option to download the whole game digitally. Bethesda on the other hand has adopted the sorry ass tactics of Konami(MGSV) and Warner Bros(Mad Max)

yeah i was thinking about this from another post, and isnt 4 options, IF the new system work like Mass Effect or DA, what u got is a system of 4 option and that include layers, like " option A open 4 more options one is always to go back to the first options".

Dialogue on 3 and NV was all display there, there wasnt much layers between options.

It could still work i will need to test it by myself the 10.

My thing with the dialogue options is this, with a voiced protag do you really want to read the whole option in your head and THEN also hear him/her repeat exactly that word for word? Just seems redundant to me. I'd be a clever modder out there will take the voiced protag out, and use the subtitled dialogue they would have said to replace this dialogue wheel. Now, that will still only leave us with at most 4 options for a response but it would satisfy those that want to know exactly what is being said before choosing it

I would gladly have no voiced protagonists and the old dialogue system. Just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean that Bethesda should have done it.
