Why do hearthfire houses get 2 forges?

This has bothered me for a bit now. You can decide to build a modest shack and have your forge outside. Once you build the main hall and dig a cellar though, you can build a second forge setup in the cellar.

Now here's my problem: the way it's laid out the forge is under your dining room/kitchen, It's hot enough to melt ebony ore down there and it's right under you! Granted the foundation is clay and stone, but I don't see any way for the smoke to exit the house. (and not even a chimney outside to see that it actually DOES somehow get out.)

I'd rather not have it in the basemant and use the space for something else, really.

Has anyone modded this so that:

1) you can just "move" your forge set up to the basemant. (reducing the cost of having to build one)

2) you can build a separate structure around the forge outside.

3) you can use the cellar for something else rather than an extra forge.

Ideas for the basemant if it won't be a forge:

I liked the idea that the basemant can be used as a planning area for adventures. Maps, shelves, chests, and lots of lighting. (kinda like that little basemant in riverwood, if you've seen it)
