Why so much love for the Khajit?

Post » Thu Sep 27, 2012 2:14 pm

For the life of me, I cannot understand why so many people seem to like the Khajit so much. When I talk to my friends IRL who play Skyrim, they almost all seem to be as anti-Khajit as I am except for the cat owning women of the group. Their starting skills are not all that great, and they do not look like Panthers or Tigers, they look like friggin' housecats which is a COMPLETE turnoff.

When giving the choice of Orc, Nord, Elf, Redguard, and housecat, I'll NEVER choose the Tabby......... EVER. I just dont get it. Except for the cat owning women of RPGs.

If Beth would change them to appear more beast-cat like instead of Morris the finicky Purina cat type maybe I would feel different. But come on, Khajit? Ugh.

I agree with you, I've never seen the appeal for the khajit or the argonians.

They're humanoid cats who speak with a funny accent, smile at their enemies and add moon sugar to every meal. What's not to love?

If Beth would change them to appear more beast-cat like
Just you wait until we go to Elsweyr. Here, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Khajiit#Sub-species_Notes - Pahmar and Senche might be more to your liking :)

I'm a cat person, if you give me the chance to play a human-sized talking cat, I can't say no.

My first TES game was Oblivion, back when species had attributes which were relevant. My "love" for the Khajiit was based on the fact they can see in the dark without the need of a torch, a critical component if one's skill is archery (especially in the dark!).

Because of this, I instantly assumed Skyrim would incorporate this feature, and it turns out they did not. It's now a "power", and it's one of the most insignificant powers in the game since: A) there's nothing dark enough to require its use and B- every species can see the same [bleeping] way.

But don't read this as a complaint, too much. Because every character I make has identical attributes, my third game had me playing as a female wood elf, which has always been my preference in a fantasy game.

Once I'm done with my current game, a Khajiit, I plan on another game as another female wood elf.

Skyrim, at least, let this be an option. If it hadn't, I'd never play as a blind-in-the-dark character in a TES game ever again.

I own a cat. I don't play a khajiit.

Next time you are trying to start a discussion, how about skipping some pointless and rude generalization and just stick to the points you wish to make?

I just dont get it. But, if I had the choice of creating a character that looks like Lion-o or Pantera from the Thundercats, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But, a funny looking housecat - no way.

Maybe I was wrong, but it seemed that a lot of folks I see on this form seemed to have great love for the Khajit. To me, the Khajit are just the WORST.

EDIT: I must admit, J-Zargo is one cool dude though. :-)

Besider, I'm seeing more Khajiit hate than love.

Freaking pvssycats. They even wear diapers in Skyrim.

Myself? Got to love their speech, culture and :3 faces. They make good slaves, too!

It wouldn't hurt to get some variety though. After all, there are so many different types of Khajiit, yet we have seen only one in TES games.

I'm allergic to cats, therefore no real felines for me.
But I'm intrigued by the Khajiit because of their interesting culture, their way of speaking, their connection to the moons, and overall amazing lore.
Maybe you could http://www.imperial-library.info/content/races-tamriel-khajiit http://www.imperial-library.info/content/khajiit-physiology-phases-and-forms http://www.imperial-library.info/content/ahzirr-trajijazaeri http://www.imperial-library.info/content/words-clan-mother-ahnissi-her-favored-daughter and find out if you like them more, since they might seem like something much more than housecats after that.

Thanks for the sixist stereotyping :glare:

Different strokes for different folks. I for one can't play a Nord character for more than two hours, they just don't feel right.

I guess it's because most don't have to answer to YOU of all people as to what race they play.

Why so much love for human races? And I hate cats in real life, so sorry to burst your stereotype. I like khajiits because of their culture and their lore.

Who can resist a cute kitty?

Seriously, I like them. I like how they look, their cute accent, I like their lore, I would love to go to Elsweyr in TES:VI. But so far I haven't played one, and I don't really have the wish to, either. Maybe it's an identification thing or something, I don't know. I love the Khajiit NPC's though.

Edit: And no, I don't have a cat. I'm allergic to cats and I'm more of a dog person, anyway.

i like argonians and khajiit because... well they are both not human. i'm a human in real life, so i find it a lot more interesting to play as something that doesn't look like me.

i play human races too, though. just can't play elves. they look bad. in all tes games.

I'm not much of a cat person in real life, but in-game, the Khajiit are probably my favourite race. They are very unique among Skyrim's people, both aesthetically as well as culturally. I'm really hoping for The Elder Scrolls VI: Elsweyr.

Uhhh,,, news flash... every male wears diapers in Skyrim. Unless you're a PC mod user who got a total nakedness mod.

As for the Khajiit... yes, their initial abilies are lousy compared to many. But you can make a seriously bada** looking kitty, with some work. I love Khajiit. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

I like to roleplay the beast races, this is not something to explain. I just prefer them to humans, they are more challenging when you don't have so many similarities with them in terms of appearance and culture.

Well I happen to be a cat lover too, and the main reason I like khajiit is that it breaks a little of the usual D&D based races and come up with a whole new races with a quite different culture. You can (moon) sugar coat it any way you like, but in the end the "races" of TES are Humans (with variations) Elves (yes this somehow includes Orcs) Khajiit and Argonians; the first 2 races are basicaly good old D&D reuse, but the last two are quite diffrent and imaginative.
oh BTW in case you didnt know, the base melee attack of the "kitties" is way stronger than any of the starting equipment, and I have tried it and makes for a quite a fun experience for melee curious characters

They're unique, and I do love playing something treated like 3rd class :)
and they don't look much like House cats to me (I own 3 so I should know), except Kharjo, he definitely has a kitten face :D

you should probably get to know them more before deciding your disposition towards them. my first time playing Elder Scrolls (which was Oblivion) Khajiit were a very odd thing to me, and had a hard time trying to keep a straight face talking to one.
after awhile, I got a sense of how they acted, and how they were treated. soon after that they became my favorite race, then I had to indulge myself on their lore which just made me like them even more.

besides, nothings more bad ass than a big Cat man taking your head off with a Two-handed sword :D

Humans are boring, elves are ugly, and argonians are lizards. They're all i got :hehe:
