Why Not an Orc?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 7:11 pm

My first character will be an Orc Smith.

That's funny. My first character's name is going to be Orc Smith; he's an elf lumberjack.

I'll create one, just not for the first 2 types of characters. I have a hard time imagining my Orcs as anything but barbarians/berserkers, and I'll play one as such.

My male Breton will look for a female Orsimer as a companion. Does that count?

I'm definitely starting as an Orc, precisely to see what can be done with character creation! The weirder the better (deciding between Argonian and Khajiit for second/third characters).

Because they UGLY! ;)
They why you pick them!

Whats a warrior?
Those large guys that smash mages in the face and bash thief's with a shield?

If people want to play as a big warrior, then they choose Nord, because (1) they look less ugly and (2) because they fit the Nordic theme.
Nah, im playing orc Warrior. Orcs are just more warrior-ish IMO than a Nord.

You know what makes a great warrior? A beard.

Have you ever seen an Orc with a beard?

a youtube video shows why here it is ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5FRbZ1zZm4 ). It alos shows why nobody plays female high elves (they make for the ugliest barmaids).

Oh my god, the blades training bit had me in stitches

OT: I think the orcs looks awesome and will definitely make one at some point.

because they are dumb. they are just the same as redguards, but redguards are better. and always think of orcs as the bad guys since LOTR

I'm being an Orc, mainly concentrate on warrior-stuff with the perks, still gonna chuck some offensive spells though :)

Because they have such short lifespans is drawing as well. My dude's short life is gonna be pretty adventurous!

I will play as an orc eventually, especially considering they actually look nice now. I'm not sure how they managed that.

But I'm not playing an orc on my first try. TES logic has three immutable truths:

1. Mudcrabs are a big deal
2. fighters guild questline always svcks
3. Dunmer Battlemages conquer all

They're like the Bulbasaur of TES.

Even Greg Keyes recognised the need for a Dunmer Battlemage in his books.

Damnit, I was gonna say some variation of "Why not Zoidberg?"

Anyways, it seems everybody is doing the opposite of the stereotype, to be different. The Dovahkiin is symbolized by a Nord Warrior, and everybody is making Dunmer, Altmer, or Breton mages/battlemages.

@Poster above me:

2. I loved Mordryn and the Fighters' Guild. :sadvaultboy:
3. Except the part where I want to slash my wrists every time I play as a Dunmer.

True, I played an Imperial Knight in my Morrowind playthrough.

Other than that, Dunmer are kind of a tradition for me.

I was an orc in Oblivion, intended to be one in Skyrim. But, upon further examination of the lore....I love Bosmers, so I'm gonna be one this time around. Though, I'll probably do an RP character about his great-great-great grandson, which would be an orc....so I guess I'll be one eventually, haha :P

Why would anyone care how long their life spans are? It will never come into play. I for one am rolling an orc for my first character. IMO the best looking race in the game. I like playing different races in all my games.
