Why do people celebrate Christmas yet get offended by "m

Post » Mon Dec 17, 2012 8:12 pm

I guess I just don't get some people. I know a guy who celebrates Christmas, not Hanukah or New Years, but Christmas. Yet when someone says merry Christmas he gets offended because they used the word Christmas.

People sing Christmas carols, yet don't get or realize that 99% of them are talking about Jesus Christ. Because, ya know, it's Christmas. Christ-mas. The day Jesus was born.

Why is this? Why go through all the hoops if you're going to be butthurt about it? Why buy a tree and get presents? You don't realize what you're celebrating? Why do you celebrate Easter? It's about celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Yet people get so offended when you let them know that.

This isn't religious, it's about the holiday. We could discuss religion in another place. But this is about the HOLIDAY, and why so many people are confused about what they're celebrating?

Because there is a huge campaign to separate the religion from the 'holidays' and your friend has been caught in the net. People have a tendency to over compensate for perceived injustices, in this case non-religious people are trying to take the religion out of the holiday because it "offends" them tha the government celebrates Christmas in particular.

Because what else would people do if they couldn't shoot themselves in the foot.
Thick skin is too much for some to develop, you gotta become sensitive like them.

I've never heard of anyone getting offended by this. That is beyond silly.

Because people are stupid. There, I said it. People who take offence to it are "stupid". You should respect that countries have statutory holidays. You'd have to be daft to go to Saudi Arabia and wonder why Arabs are wishing you a happy whatever when it's that time of year too.

Besides, Christmas has been a secular/capitalist affair for as long as I can remember. Even if you still think it's some super religious affair(Which it isn't) then just svck it up. Not everything in life is worth raising a fit over. Accept the seasons greetings and move on with your life.

But the holiday is what it is. Why/how could separate or change that? The fact is that Christmas IS about celebrating the birth of Christ, and Easter the resurrection. How can you "change" that? It doesn't add up to me.

That's like me saying I want to change Cinco de Mayo into a holiday celebrating black peas and cream of chicken soup. Doesn't work, because it already has a purpose and meaning.

Thats very odd!
I just want my pagan fun, why would anyone get offended by that? But not even that. Offended by a name! But whats in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

I heard many stories and seen some people get offended because a public place puts up a Christmas Tree. Frankly I find that stupid. How is a tree covered in lights offencive?

Why celebrate the birth of a God you don't believe in? AND then get offended by its true meaning? Lol.
