Why Is Skyrim Turning Into Twilight?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 1:38 pm

SPOILERS!!!! This thread may contain potential spoilers so do not complain if you are spoiled by these spoilers.
Okay, Vampires and Werewolves seem to have become the most prevalent aspects in Skyrim. Especially after the Dawnguard DLC which made both Vampires and Werewolves have their own skill tree. The Vampire Lord as well as the Werewolf are 2 of the most poweful playstylesto have in Skyrim. Also, with the new story long romance between the Dragonborn and a Vampire Lord (if you are a male). With the prevalance of vampires and werewolves as well as the romance, it seems that the game has a hint of Twilight to it. Maybe its just me, though. I dont mind a story with a little romance, or with vampires, or even with werewolves, but when you mix all 3, however, it feels like Twilight.

Edit: Yeah, i have no idea why its spaced out so ridiculously.

NO. Not Twilight in the slightest. Vampires and Werewolves where awesome WAY before the stupid book/movie.

And plus I thought it felt more like Underworld than anything. Plus Skyrim itself reminds me a lot of Lord of the Rings.

The spacing is because of your GIANT spoiler text.

There is no 'love' story either she just happens to be more involved than other NPCs. And she is sweet to the player where as most women in the game either try to kill you or run a shop. For the most part.

And for this to be similar to Twilight's love story, wouldn't their need to be a third party werewolf? And the MC would need to be a vampire and Serana a human.

Umm how is this Twilight, in Twilight you have a vampire who is in love with a girl, and a shapeshifter who also loves her so the vampire and shapeshifter dislike each other. How do you get that from Dawnguard?

Maybe da people that wrote twilight went in the future and based it on dawnguard and broke the space time continuim. Think about it, itll make sense in the long run.

WELL my guy is a werewolf and he is in love with serana who is a vampire and now that you mention it....it kinda feels like Underworld with Van Helsing-esque too it.

Itdoesnt feel like twilight at all to me. While there is a romance/friendship going on, it's not a s twilighty as it seems.it still feels and plays like Skyrim to me, not glittery, over dramatic, or any of that stuff. Serana is a true character person it feels, and her story is good. Not like Bella. And, most importantly, look at the difference between the vampires. It's pretty major

You haven't even tried playing a vampire. It's so obvious.

You comparing (especially now) Skyrim vampires to Twilight wanna-be-vamps is... is... it's just... it's total... fail.

edit: when I say "haven't even tried" I mean that you haven't tried playing through the vampire quest line in Dawnguard.

edit 2: jc, man, Dawnguard doesn't involve a love story at all!

*sigh*

either you are trolling in which case: you are welcome or being fed be me.

Or you have apparently not played Dawnguard and are just jumping on the Twilight hate wagon while being very picky on your Dawnguard info.

1. There is no "real" romance per se. (okay I will admit the same can be said of Twilight heh)

2. Vampires and Werewolves got buffed, both needed it badly.

3. Neither vampire nor werewolf are more powerful than simply playing in humanoid form because of the versatility of enchanted gear, potions and spells.

4. I anything Dawnguard is around 80% ripped off of Underworld with a few bits of other Vampire lore stuffed in. Just look at the creature designs. Werewolves are not giant badly CGI shaggy dogs nor do the vampires sparkle, brood or stalk teenage girls.

5. You hate Twilight, I hate Twilight, at this point I doubt there are many that don't hate Twilight. But this obsession by people with trying to connect twilight to ANYTHING involving vampires is getting old and to be quite frank incredibly stupid.

That is what I was thinking it is a little more Underworld-esque. I always thought the werewolves in Skyrim looked like the werewolves in the Underworld movies, but they had the abilities of the Lycans.

Just because TES has Vampires and Werewolves in it doesn't mean this is Twilight.

It's like saying because Skyrim has chickens, cows, lettuce, leeks, etc plants in it, it's a game about farming.

Or because Skyrim has magic, it's become Harry Potter.

Or because Oblivion had zombies in it, it's a game about zombie apocalypse.

No matter how the DLC was made, it would have reminded you of some vampire/werewolf movie out there. It isn't like they're tons and tons of them lol

Your so riduculous...they gave werewolves and vampires their own perk trees so people would stop complaining at how weak they were

I fail to see any relation to Twilight at all, aside from vampires, werewolves, and a slight romance, if you can even call it that.
Underworld, maybe, but Twilight. No.

Not to mention, this DLC isn't about Werewolves AT ALL. This DLC was centered around Vampires because the people at BGS felt that Vampires needed their spotlight and needed to be fleshed out because they've always just been....there, so to speak. I think they succeeded in that aspect, somewhat. Also, this is one DLC, not the entire game. The game is still about what it's always been about. Vampires and Werewolves, and many other mythological creatures from real life are in TES and always will be, it's nothing new.

I am armored-trolling. Its different. I just had the thought at the back of my mind and I wanted to see how accurate that thought was based on the opinions of my peers. So essentially, it as accurate as Skyrim's crossbows without a zooming feature(not accurate)

Dammit man! Regardless of your intentions that was *not* truly trolling! It is a legitimate question that MUST be answered. Reptiles having [censored] makes no sense regardless of the fact that they stand upright and wear clothes! :P

Screw romance, let us behead things in the name of Australia and maintain the testosterone of Skyrim.

Werewolf/Vampire media will never be the same after Twilight. That book literally killed that genre.
