Why the forums are so negative

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 7:37 am

It makes me sad to think of people who come here to get opinions of the game and whether or not they should buy it. These boards are wayyy too negative for how good of a game this is.

I don't care/mind or even see that the forums are negative.

I'm constantly opening my Steam overlay to talk about the game.

Love is not just accepting things the way they are, but trying to improve them. Skyrim is great, but you can't honestly say it's perfect.

LOL @ Derby's sig. The trolls must've cheated and got all 3 power words for their shouts, while those of us enjoying the game only have the first one XD

Usually the only negative person on these forums is the OP.

Gives Bethesda a good idea what they could improve for the next game.

Besides, I still think the forum is mostly positive, or people seeking advice

There are currently nearly 200 thousand players enjoying Skyrim on PC right now, excluding those who play in offline mode. The game is so good we don't even have much time to post stuff in the forums :P. So naturally the negative posters have the run of the place.

All I see is constructive criticism for a game that's recieved overwhelmingly positive feedback from old and new fans.

The forums would be dead if we all sat around saying "this is nice" ... "yes, I agree. The game is rather smashing".

If you started a forum and gave each new member a million pounds and their own 21 year old female mistress, there would still be negativity. That's the internet for you, it's full of miserable folk who love to whinge no matter what they have

Lol!! Touché. I suppose I DID get a little negative there, didn't I?

I appreciate all the responses about the 'negativity' being constructive criticism... I agree, there is some of that... but there is also a LOT of negativity.

I just want to get the message out there that despite the majority of the threads being negative/problems with Skyrim, people deciding on whether or not to buy the game have to remember that there are like 300,000 people actually PLAYING as you read all these comments.

Yea. . . Some people just like to hear themselves b-itch & whine.

They don't realize what's involved to make such a HUGE game.

Bethesda will issue patches and the modding community

will fix what Bethesda misses.

So to those whiners I say. . .

Build yourself a bridge and get over it.

This is the best forum I've ever been to. Go check out the "mature" BF3 forums.

Typically when a game is first released there is a lot of complaints but IF the company who made it can release patches to quickly resolve the problems (like the male Dark Brotherhood cowl not having a mask on 360s) then it will change.

The only people that are saying the forum is "negetive" are the folks who think Skyrim is Upwards of perfect and any word against it is grounds for execution. little do they know they ARE the problem, running down anyone who has a complaint and calling them "moaners, whiners" even so much to saying anyone who complains isn't a fan. what doesn't click in their trolling heads is that How are such folks less of a fan when They care so much about the series to say "Hey this isn't right, why are you doing this" :teehee:

but of course everyone wants Kumbya, and THIS,

and Oh man this game is rulez right? Totally.

What a boring ass forum it would be, so IF you don't like the "negetivity:, go be apart of the myth that the forum is only comprised of whiners, while everyone else is playing Skyrim. but don't come here to undermind people with legitimate concerns and trying to downplay their efforts to get things right, if you like the game then participate in a "why this game will be goty" or shush.

I think everyone has points to make, they just go a little melodramatic with it. It's surprising how different a vibe can be between "I have experienced X, I believe this could be fixed/improved with Y or Z, what do you think?" and "I've experienced X, the game is broken, Bethesda svck, and it's the end of the world!".

There's certainly issues. The crazy crafting loops, undeniable level scaling issues, Destruction not scaling equivalent to melee, etc. These are genuine points to make. The difference is how they're presented.

Positivity does not belong on the internet. And yes, people have gone overboard but if nobody mentions the things that are wrong with a game they'll never get fixed and you'd have to be wearing goggles coated in a thick layer of fanboyism to say that this game is perfect.
