Why in the world do quest Items have weight?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:13 pm

As the title suggest why the hell did they make quest items have weight? Now i got this stud elder scroll I can't put in a chest or anything and it weighs a wopping 20 lbs, seriously, so annoying especially since once you're level 30+ 20 pounds of weight is a lot.

To add to the realism? I mean they took away armorer so they had to add something, right? :P

Well if realism is your argument than I'm dumbfounded cause in the real world Aka realism I can take something out of my pocket that I don't want there?

hehe, good point. That made me mad too because I couldn't remember what quest one item was for so I could finish it and quit carrying the thing around.

Agreed, I know that a sword actually weighs something but I can always drop it if I feel like it IRL. Honestly, shouldn't have to lug around a 20lb sword and not be able to drop it just because its for a quest.

I was under the impression that they had weight, but didn't add to your inventory weight.

Ah, but they it's a dumbed down realism that if you take that item out of your inventory you're most likely going to lose it. At least, I would. For the life of me I can't find Sunder in my main Morrowind character.

I don't mind it, it makes sense and I rarely have problems with being over encumbered.

I am constantly over-encumbered from dragon bones. Other than that, I'm a mage and I just conjure weapons and wear only light armor or robes.

Probably because items that are personally significant to you don't suddently become weightless in real life? Really, why were they weightless in the first place?

It's all about item management. I go out for a day raid a dungeon or two then return to town with my spoils. ^_^

Its a bit annoying. I have some crap hunters bow that my game tells me is a quest item. It let me upgrade it to fine, but seriously, I had to throw away 2 elven bows cause I ran out of room..

You people defend with "realism" meanwhile you can walk around with millions of gold and hop around light as a feather.

Since we're on the topic of carry weight...

Dragon bone/scales are too damn heavy.

i'd be okay with it (though 20 lbs seems too high for any quest item) IF we could remove them from inventory... surely there's a way to mark them as "do-not-sell" while being able to enable "place-in-owned-container" at the very least. or how about just flagging them "quest" like the "stolen" items are so we know not to sell them?

i still have the sapphire dragon claw key, and had it out on a table (i wish i could remember how...). i accidentally picked it up while trying to target something else and now i can't remove it. i'm stuck carrying this silly 1/2 claw around for forever now?? the quest is over, let me put it down! :P

All quest items are cursed with burden, just like all faction items are cursed with instant death. Have fun~
