System being used is unconfirmed through official sources as of yet.
I wouldn't bank on it being that different from the traditional method of BoP/BoE.
i think it will have the BoP and BoE that most mmo games use and i for 1 could not be happier
As a noob, why do MMO's have those systems of BOP / BOE?
BoP prevents people from farming items also to drop on an AH. with BoE you make it so crafters can continue to make mid tier gear forever. if items never left then the minute someone finished using an items they would hand it down or slap it on the AH. really there are several reasons why BoP and BoE is needed in an mmo. i used to be against it until i understood it
Can a person just sell the said items to a NPC vendor to get gold after (s)he is done with them? That way no human can get endgame gear to use or pass me downs.
nope -- still the guild store system that are in the keeps.....
oh yeah you can vendor it just not trade or sell to other players
Wouldn't it be cool if items could only be traded like 5 times and then they were destroyed that would also take them out of the economy. Or every time the weapon or piece of armor is traded it loses a little bit of it's stats or something, like hand me downs.
i have seen other people mention things like this in the past, to me its a bad idea as it will just piss off people who buy such items. also if an item can be traded 5 times that is 5 times a crafter did not have to make a new item. BoE is great for crafter imo. look at wow, crafted items were perfect to meet the ilvl requirement for dungeons
if you do not remove crafted items from the game you end up making crafters worthless over time. i really hope stats are final and not ever changing. there will be plenty of people who would find old items useful, its not like this is a stat heavy game
usually people in the same party have a set time where they can trade the item between other members in that party. this would be the best system imo. if you got the perfect piece for your wife you would have like 2 hours to give it to her. if there is no BoP then people can just buy their way to the top. BoP protects against pay 2 win play
without binding items never leave the economy unless the person holding it quits the game. this is not good imo. look at diablo 3. nothing is bound in that game. the first week you could sell a unique item for a good sum but a month later the same unique is selling just a hair above vendor price because the market has so many of them. without BoP and BoE the market will be flooded with items
i agree. there should be a preview button.
i also agree. there should be no gear score requirements in this game. i understand it as it protects the players in the dungeons but this game is different. i do not believe there will be any requirement btw
Bind on Pickup and Bind on Equip is for games that have a broken economy where they haven't bothered balancing influx and outflux of items.
Most games today refuse to let players experience loss, therefore there are no mechanisms to "break" items such that they become worthless and the player has to go buy a new sword. BoP and BoE is the only way to make sure an item can't be traded after it has been put in use, which is to reduce market flooding and price plummeting.
It's still only half a solution though, since once a player has a specific item, he'll never need to acquire this item again. If there was a system that completely took items out of the economy he would eventually need that new sword again, which would lead to a healthier economy.
Look at EVE though, there if you get blown up, most of the stuff you had seize to exist and thus you need to go and get new stuff. The same could be made in a fantasy MMO, when you die you lose a bunch of your gear, and your corpse is free to be looted by others for whatever scraps didn't get destroyed. With this economy you can still trade everything, nothing is player bound.
Not just the keeps, ALL the nodes you can capture will have a quartermaster a guild can set up a store at when they capture it.

Full loot PvP is an serious turnoff for most players, in short majority would not do PvP.
Add that full loot don't remove items from game it just move it up to the high level and good players and back to the economy.
Item breakdown start making some sense to me, it will have the bonus that it will create an demand for the medium to low level endgame gear, the one you use for everyday activity. You reserve to good gear for raids or taking keeps and other major action.
