so why do you like games like skyrim and other rpg's please?

i love a lot of video game genres, mainly action adventure and first person titles but role playing games are my fave genre but why?

well for me, i love open world, free roam rpg's like the ES series and i think exploring a massive world with not knowing whats around the corner is magical, stumble across a dungeon, a new quest or ruins, a bandit camp, a town tucked away in the side of a mountain or a new weapon or fantastic bit of armour :)
i also love the character progression, seeing my person level up, get better gear and become more of a bad a$$ within the game world!! i can't wait to see what the next level brings in regards of new powers, weapons or equipment!!

so yeah, for me these are prob the main reasons why i play and love these sort of role playing games!! how about you please? and what attracted you to skyrim in the first place? new to the series or old, be nice to hear your story! :)

The alder scrolls and fallout series are my 2 favorite series (both equal)

I love them for the sheer amount of freedom that most games don't offer

I love games that make me go "wow..." and bethesda games typically have more of these per $ than any other game could dream of.

flying bullets around my head, cool weapons and uh... butterflies.

j/k the most interesting point is storyline, exploring and loot for me. since we can't get storylines like Planescape level very often; TES series offer really good storylines. Aside from Oblivion's main quest; side quests (especially daedric quest and DB!!!) were really quality stuff.

I like exploiting the AI errors in mediocre rpg′s.
Who else loved it to destroy whole towns by luring a horde of boars into them in Two Worlds/TW2 ?
Ah, we talking about Skyrim...
Well, the sheer epicness in every single aspect of this game I guess!

I like good stories in my games and you usually find them in RPGs like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, TES, Final Fantasy, The Witcher, you get the idea.

Better yet if you can make your own story like in Skyrim.

Immersion from good storylines, varied and plentiful choices and dialogue, good characters, great worlds, character development, challenge etc. Hope Skyrim has those but I'm some parst of the development philosophy really worry me.
