Why do you like/play Video games?

I don't like/play video games
I like/play certain game genres whether they are videogames or not. I'll happily play strategy or RPG games but not sports or shooters

Because I can. :yes:

- Mostly because they are more colourful and have better things going on them than the whole outside world does in a week, just a shame the games only last a few hours. Most I've ever played a game was FFXIII and that was for 250+ hours - no idea how I went for so long, must have left it unpaused somewhere.

This. My life is dull at best, and [censored] at worst. Sure there are ways around this, but games offer a quick way out, and I have been using them as a way to distract myself for a long time.

Allthough thats wore off, I dont really play much anymore.

Lately this past year has become harder and harder to want to play with all the streamlining and removal of good features or just plain laziness of game companies to get our money anymore. I am more emotionally charged playing ME3 then I was playing Skyrim and that makes me sad in a way. Because I always loved TES till they have gutted the series to basics now over the last 10 years. IMHO it is now more action then RPG anymore. :shakehead:

Why do you like/play Video games?

I've actually gotten to a point where I don't care that much for video games but I still play them if I'm board. The games I like to play are: RPG's, FPS, Action Adventures and Flight/Combat Sims.

Because my life svcks, there's nothing to do. In video games i can do things i've never could in reality.

I'm the kind of guy who just likes the technical side of it. Sometimes I'd buy a game if there's some impressive tech behind it, like Crysis (high quality shaders) or Rage (virtual texturing).
Most new games always seem to disappoint me somehow in the gameplay section, so I usually stick to older games such as Quake 3, Command & Conquer: Generals and Age of Empires 1+2.

There are many things I enjoy in life: reading, hiking, movies, music, science, good food. Videogames are just one more thing I enjoy. I don't bother anolysing why I like to do certain things; the fact that I enjoy doing them is enough.

Both of these are main reasons for me. Video games are great stress relievers.

Pretty much. Some periods of time I prefer shutting my brain off more and watching TV. Other times I prefer losing myself in task-obsessive gameplay. And sometimes I feel like neither and spend too much time surfing the internet, instead. Altho lately, it seems that overall, I enjoy games a little less every year, for whatever reasons.

Because I'm stuck in that point of my life, where I only have a handful of close friends and live many miles away, I'm stuck in an irritating excuse for an organized school system (don't tell me I'm wrong, ive seen other schools, mine is [censored].), and my life is so [censored] mundane.

I play video games to break the severe dullness of human life and to talk with my friends.
