any poll less then 1000+ votes, is not a reliable poll, plus having the poll only in here forums, means only certain type of players vote.
so any conclusions about this will be false in the grand scale.

They are still here, but many MMO Players did come over the last month.
I don't think they left.
But I think it's rather unusual if you never ever have tryed an MMORPG as an RPG-player.
You also have to take into account the people who just didn't bother to vote.
Last one I tried, well, really tried was Asheron's Call back in like 2002. That was for two months. That was so long ago I hardly think it was relevant as I was 12. Other than that I tried WoW once for a week on a friends account and didn't like it at all. That was about four years ago.
That makes me feel like I would have to answer any poll with not really having played an MMO as I never played a modern one or played one while I was smart enough or played it long enough to understand the systems very well.
In short, it happens, quite often. Most RPG players on console probably never played an MMORPG simply because there are maybe a handful, if that, on those systems.
Misleading thread title Being an MMO player does not make you NOT a TES player. I can't think of many (any?) MMO players of my acquaintance who have NOT played the TES single player games. They are gamers. They play ALL the games, at least in the genres they enjoy, and especially the highly rated ones. And for MMORPG players that includes SPRPGs.
The sample population is too small for an accurate assessment.
I am a old TES vet, and I never thought this series would make for a good MMO. Co-op MAYBE, and even that is a stretch because you take away from all the story and action of the single player games. My biggest fear with this game is the fact that it's being made in the WoW era and will try its best to mimic it as to draw players in. I am honestly disappointed with this game and have no desires or plans to play it. I'll stick with the oldies till they make another TES single player.
The game is nothing like WoW at all my friend. Do yourself a favor and try the open beta when it comes out at the very least. I have been a TES fan since 2002, I like the direction this is going and I am not much of an MMO player either. I am exceedingly familiar with the lore as well and it is almost all shaping up decently so far.
On a related note, I thought Skyrim svcked. I am more of a Morrowind player.
Okay, I can understand you being not excited about this game and feeling that this is an unfit period of time to produce such a game. But how can you be disappointed in something you couldn't possibly have tried yet? It's like eating a spoonful of flour and saying it is a bad cake.
Yeah I agree, me too.
It's also about the music for me personally which make me think not to buy The Elder Scrolls Online.
Who is to say I have not tried it? I am still not impressed. I'm honestly more of a mmo vet then I am TES. I started TES with Oblivion, but have been playing MMO's sine Ultima. As a MMO vet I am honestly more sad with the game then I am with it as a TES vet.
Well that is a different position than you had before. However, I really question if you have tried it given your WoW anology earlier.
Anyways, we cannot discuss this further here. If you participated in the beta, contact me via the beta forums and we can discuss this further if you want. I have the same name except I have an underscore instead of a space between my name. Like so. ALBINO_DUNMER.
Why? Can you bring up any argument other than it being a WoW clone, which it isn't? If you seriously doubt it will be, than its almost certain you haven't played or researched anyyhing about this game.
As I said in another thread that was deleted, if ESO won't satisfy TES fans, this game won't last long. Sadly.
The whole mmo population is playing to other mmorpgs, that market is really difficult. They will come, they will try and they will left in some months cause almost everybody is "burned" about the MMO idea, which stills being a fail in almost all the cases.
The only loyal and people hat will be subbed just because of the TES universe, will be TES fans.
Me, for example, I just play AoC, I don't like mmorpgs. Just Age of Conan because of the atmosphere, aesthetics, etc, etc(if it was for mmo gameplay, I would play just one month).
If this game ends being "just another one" mmorpg, then it will be doomed. The only solution is to appeal TES fans, but reading some opinions about the beta (deleted thread), seems this won't be a true Elder Scrolls game. If they end just using the brand to release another typical mmo, then (want it or not) this game won't have many history.
I'm saying this because maybe I'm a bit down by reading some topics here about the beta and how similar to anothers mmorpgs seems.
It's curious, because in this last beta movement, I have seen a lot of comments saying this not seem a TES game as they said in many interviews.
I really don't know if I can trust or not that opinions, but hey, that's what I have now...I just can see opinions from people playing. Zos is not showing anything more, so...
And this is not another flame user randomly posting, no, this is a TES fan that has played thousands of hours to TES games and will buy this game and will be subbed. As me, the majority of people waiting for this game.
I REALLY WANT TO LIKE THIS GAME. I just hope ZoS don't release another presudo asian mmorpg.
I am secure that ESO will prevail, the release is in a good spot, and every single player ES fan will buy it.
The playerbase might not be ES playerbase completely, i am sure many many many WoW players will join up and play ESO, leading to a mixed ES+WoW+randoms playerbase, leading to something.
Only time will tell, but it seems to me that ESO will be much needed medicine for many players atm. and as we do not have any new ES game or Fallout game, this game will just give us our daily fix for sure.
LIES! What if the population being polled is less than 1000????
Like a poll of Mrs. Jensen's 3rd and 4th grade classes???
Seems like SOMEONE didn't get their P.h.D. in statistics...
J/k

I'm lingering participation on this forum... just waiting for them to release more infozz... I just want to see some gameplay! ARRGGGHHHHH WHY HAVEN'T THEY SHOWN SOME SOLID PVP GAMEPLAY YET!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?
And I'm a TES player primarily that has also played some MMO games
I think a lot of them were expecting Skyrim Online and became disappointed when that wasn't the case.
It's a sad thing really, because ZOS is doing an excellent job blending TES with MMO.
When a new game is announced, many come to learn about the upcoming game. In an MMO that is in closed beta those selected for the beta come less or not at all to ensure they do not slip and say something they should not. As the number of testers increase, the forum for that game declines. Many now days get their information via twitter, Facebook and blogs. Some create their own forums to form guilds and enjoy the smaller guild development forums. Some go back to the sections of the forum they are most comfortable with while just periodically checking back for new information.
I imagine with a release date is announced we will once again have an increase in traffic. But in reality, most who play games never, ever visit a forum about the game at all.
Seems some are reading too much into this. In fact this forum usually has more guests or lurkers than posters.
I just have to mention that this thread is a perfect example of why self-selected polls on the internet are completely and utterly useless and devoid of all meaning entirely.
I mean that in the harshest way possible. Internet polls are not a random sample of the population. They are not drawn from a representative population. The people who choose to respond are going to be different in type than those who don't, because its completely up to the person (ie. no compulsion or reward, no pollster asking you to please stay on the line.)
Seriously. These things are pretty much just for entertainment. The only time they are worth ANYTHING at all is when the majority of the forum votes AND they do so nearly unanimously.
Actually, the number of votes it takes to make a reliable poll is dependent on the size of the population you are drawing from. Saying you need 1000 votes to be accurate clearly wouldn't make sense if the population you were studying existed of only 435 people (like the US House or something.)
Interestingly though, the bigger the population gets the smaller the percentage you need to be accurate. That's why a poll of 2,000 people can accurately predict the voting behavior of 230,000,000 American advlts.
This has been statistics hour with NordJitsu.
