Have you tried the Living Quarters in Jorrvaskr, the base of the Companions? She considers her room there as her default home, so she might still be out there, or somewhere else around Whiterun. She sometimes walks around the farms around Whiterun too.

A good thing to do is pickpocket a quest item from the thieves guild side quests. E.g. drevin will ask you to pickpocket a gem from someone, then you can give that gem to someone else and the quest marker will stay on them.

Your journey is almost complete. Now search for a cave called 'south brittleshin pass'.

Then you will find the search party.

Yea right, you kissed her goodbye, your marriage was all candy and roses, you can't imagine why she would leave you. Then bam we find out you took 3 days to report her missing and the neighbours have noticed a lot of midnight digging. I'm not falling for that again.

If your on PC

I thought aela was essential? Either its bugged or OP has decided to troll as well given all the false "search party" posts he's been getting :D

I think she becomes non-essential after the companions quest. You can only marry her after the companions questline.

Ha yeah, I even wrote beneath it, "we're messing if you didn't know" and he still didn't realise

Aela stopped to cook meals for my main character the conversation option just doesn't show up anymore - Maybe the Aela the OP married was sick of cooking too and left the OP?

Strangely enough, if you marry any Essential NPCs, they become non-essential.....so you can "report them missing" perhaps?
