Move to another house. But then, the kids might not like it instead. You can't please everyone.

Your wife sounds like she's rather live in town. There are spouses who like the wilderness, though. Browsing the Wiki's and looking at which spouses prefer what might help you.
I'm sorry I cannot offer any better advice.

Sofia the girl I adopted is kinda like that. One moment she is running around and telling me how much she likes it here, then the next minute she is telling me she is scared. So I tell her to go inside and she's like "awww momma!" like she doesn't want to go inside.

You can ask your wife how your kids are doing? How come I don't get conversation-choices like that :stare:

I wonder if those extra spouse lines were recorded as a part of vanilla Skyrim that was never used, or if they reassembled (some of) the voice cast to make new lines for Hearthfire.

Nothing's wrong. In fact, this is the most realistic aspect of Skyrim. It's impossible to make women happy. You can only make them content, and they're only content when they have something to complain about.

You just have to pick the right wife. I lived at Lakeview then moved to Breezehome, Solitude, and finally Heljarchen Hall. She has positive things to say about all locations. The boy I adopted complains about the cold. The girl likes the snow and wants to go sledding.

It has to do with the voice actor used to record the lines.

Well, Ysolda likes Lakeview just fine. Says the fresh air is great for the kids. She also liked Whiterun.

Ah, domestic bliss. Two girls playing outside, the steward (Uthgerd) mining ore, the housecarl patrolling the grounds, Vigilance waiting by the animal pen, and Ysolda snacking on the porch. A regular little settlement. The population may be greater than Shor's Stone! Will be if I add in a Bard and a Carriage driver.

Spouses considered to have "neutral" voices are pretty much okay anywhere, and so are spouses with Nord voices.

Spouses considered to be arrogant or rough dislike many cities and the wilderness.

Orcs are indifferent to disdainful of cities, but like the wilderness and wilder towns.

Only spouses with lines recorded can be asked about your kiddos.
