i returned from a buying trip to the towns and picking up a few things at the old house returned asked wifey how the kids were, and she says with contempt in her voice "fine if you don't count fending off wolves and giant spiders i don't know what you were thinking moving us out here" has this happened to anybody else ?

I live in Proudspire and when I ask my wife how the kids are she says "With so many guards in the street, I don't even have to worry"

so yeah, it sounds like they don't particularly enjoy living out in the wild.

i'm guessing that it's a personality thing. some more adventurous spouses (eg Farkas, Ria, Vilkas, Aela) would probably be ok with a house in the wild, while some (eg ysolda) might be more comfy in a city
(this is just guesswork, needs testing)

I married Ysolda and I live in the house in Hjaalmarch. She said she loves it and the fresh air does wonders for all of them. Not sure what she would've said if I had brought her to any of the other houses.

I can confirm that she likes morthal also. Ysolda is a true nord woman:P

Tested this just for fun. I've got Heljarchen Hall (Dawnstar's land plot.) built up and fully furnished. Just started working on Morthal's purchase.

Muiri and the kids hated The Pale. They complained constantly, and I was always fending off wolves and spiders.

Moved them into Proudspire, and they're all happy as can be.

On my other save, Ysolda loves Heljarchen. Seems different spouses have different tastes. Lots more depth in this dlc than I expected.

Well done, Beth.

My wife, Senna, doesn't like Windhelm. Says the city is crawling with filth and that she's doing her best to protect them. The city doesn't seem that bad to me, with the imperials in charge and the murders stopped.

You guys sure it's not just random dialogue for when you live in one of the Hearthfire houses? Can you keep selecting that option to get different dialogue? Which house did you move her to, OP?
