http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/16/wii-u-selling-out-fast-online-heres-where-you-can-still-get-it/, will anyone be getting this? I've got my preorder. This is the first launch day console I've ever bought. Well I did get a PS2 launch console, but it was a gift. Got the deluxe and zombie u. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is what I bought it for though which comes out in march. I want to avoid the post launch mourners who missed out on getting theirs. The period where people will beat each other up when new shipments come in for the raving masses to get their hands on them. I would never be able to get one if I waited, not in time for Monster Hunter.
I will probably get a Wii U eventually, but not until there's a really good game library available, which I reckon will take a couple of years.
All you need is Monster Hunter. I jest, but I've logged 250 hours on the first game. 150-200 each on the handheld ones. I didn't get around to Monster Hunter Tri yet, but now that the remastered one is just around the corner who cares.
Not interested. That is unless a great exclusive title gets released for it. It would be rather silly getting a console for a single title though, so I guess I'll pass.
I never get a console when it first releases anymore. Give it a while, you might get it cheaper, with more games available, and you will be aware of any hardware issues at that point. Seems like the smart way to do things.
Yeah, all consoles will have overheating problems with initial model. Wait for a few years for the improved models
Nintendo doesn't really have any history of improving their console models though, but to keep the same tech thru the whole time. Unlike their handhelds which seen numerous new models.
I do hope this change with the Wii U though, better and more energy efficient models in the future would be nice, even if I don't have a clue how much the energy consumption is of the initial model
Nope. There are very few Nintendo games that interest me, and certainly not enough to justify a console purchase. I'll get the Ps4 for its exclusives, but not the Wii U.

75W, compared to the Wii's 15W.
I'll probably snag one when The Wonderful 101 releases, which is apparently sometime before March.
This looks like an incredibly dull console and I have little to no interest in it whatsoever. If it drops to 150 or so like the wii it might be worth it for a mediocre time waster, until then no thanks.
I'm definitely not buying it at launch. I did with the Wii and have barely touched it since. In fact, the main thing I use my Wii for is to play GameCube games.
Now, that's not to say it's not going on my Christmas list, but I'm not going to purchase it with my own money until well after launch.
I will say this though: I'm really liking the controller so far.
