In my current playthrough, I want to be on the NCR's side so I dont want to do this quest. it is in my quest log and my ocd is really kicking in. how far in the main quest do i have to go for this quest to fail, or is there a way i can fail it, or do i HAVE to do it or will it never go away? help please!

The only way to fail it is to side with House.
