Yes, you are. It's a random encounter added in dawnguard. OP likely just has bad luck.

I have yet to see one also. I think it's a relatively rare event. I have seen a wild gargoyle though :D

I assume its a very tiny chance it'll happen.

It happened for me when I left Whiterun at night and went towards that Valtheim tower area, along the way I got ambushed by a gargoyle, killed it and when I turned around to get back on the road a werewolf came out of a bush on the other side of the road and attacked me.

Hasn't happened since.

That would scare the [censored] out of me if a werewolf popped out of a bush and ran at me. But you should have stayed on the road, I hope you get that reference.

Oh? You mean that in addition to the people who transform into werewolves in front of you, you'll also find already transformed werewolves in the game as well? That's nice. I didn't want it to be something where you knew it was coming every single time because you recognize the random event happening.

I have seen this once, it was during the night deep in the woods East of Riften, the werewolf was fighting a Ancient Vampire and her raised Spider. I havent seen one since, I think they should make it happen a little more often, I always hated the fact that before dawnguard came out it was like you were the only werewolf in the game ( Besides the companions and she only transforms once, and the deadric quest in Falkreath.) So this happening more often would lead you to beleive that they are out there and roaming about.

Wow, I didn't know this feature was added in DG. This sounds pretty cool, I have played through DG twice and never seen any wild werewolves. Are they contagious? Can you contract lycanthropy from them?

( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QkSBu89Hps&feature=channel&list=UL )- Should help you find wild Werewolves but takes a few tries, depending on how lucky you are... I'll tell you this, if you find a Hunter in this spot then there is a good chance he'll transform into a werewolf.

Yep there's werewolves and then there's people that will change right in front of you. I have only bumped into 4 werewolves( all were already changed ) since I started DG, two groups of 2, in separate locations. Each time I managed to sneak in enough to watch them kill what ever it was they where killing, but it didn't take them long to get my sent. It's a rather interesting encounter, sadly they are not friendly towards a player controlled werewolf. I tested in the hopes that they saw me before I changed, but they where still aggressive towards me in werewolf form.

Nope. But on PC, there's always the Tales of Lycanthropy Core module, but I have a feeling that you're probably a console player, however. Still, perhaps the simple mentioning of that mod can give Bethesda some ideas, though.

I have looked up that mod, out of envy of you PC players, and it made me think if a modder such as that person, who did a great job with that mod, can do something like that, then why can't Bethesda?

I can guarantee you, this has been the case for the TES and FO series since day 1, it's also a core reason for me to buy Skyrim. Modders can take these games so many levels ahead of what you can achieve on consoles. Not just in terms of gameplay, but also in graphics.
Mods like ToL are actually not being updated in anticipation of Dawnguard so they no longer need to mess the with existing skill trees like they have to do now to add these perk trees.

Vampire lord will most likely get some sweet loving very quickly once it's out on PC.

This is why I envy PC players, but I can't stand using the mouse and keyboard controls.

Hah, exactly the opposite goes for me in terms of controls, but the additional potential a PC can dig out of any game that allows players to tamper with it is a nice bonus.
That said, in terms of 'party games' I think consoles are the single best medium a PC can never compete with.

With most games on PC, yes. Skyrim wont recognise a PS3 controller though but fortunately, you can download a program called MotionJoy which will allow you to use a PS3 controller

The PS3 really suffers a lot of bad strokes with Skyrim doesn't it?
Such an unfortunate coincidence, you'd almost consider switching to xbox (and related hardware) just to be done with all these unfortunate, coincidental, setbacks it s been having.
A more fortunate coincidence is that by doing so you also get DLC sooner than others.

:ermm: ....

Just glad I have a PC that can be made to use anything as long as there's people willing to make it.
Makes up for having to wait.

Business. Bethesda prefer not to add any of the real good, and great, stuff into the main game cause they can make profit from putting them into DLCs, and other stuff...

Also, you gotta remember that when us PC Modders create mods for the PC version of these games, it does attract the attention of the Console users.. No? Bethesda can actually make a profit from the console users cause once their attention is attracted to the PC version then they might actually buy it which means one person will buy the same game twice thus double the profit.. Happened with me, that is for sure. I got Morrowind for the Xbox first, cause I didn't like PC gaming that much, but after I learn about modding.. I bought the PC version just to get those mods..

In other words, they are trying to get as much money as they can out of Skyrim, which is their main point.. They are working for profits, no?

Just some tips to increase your chances.

Travel only at night and don't ever fast travel and walk the roads or near them.

I just got ambushed by TWO werewolves on my way to steal Frost from the Black briar's lodge (near Riften, lil bit off the road), well to be honest I already had him and turned in the quest then when Letrush got on the horse they came out of nowhere (Not joking, they came out of nowhere..lol) and slaughtered poor Frost then I had an epic battle with them.

My Daedric sword of the Vampire dominated them.
