Will all upgraded houses look the same?

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 7:49 pm

It is a thought that, if you were to upgrade the house, add all the rooms, etc, will it look the same as someone who ALSO bought all rooms for their house? Or can you actually position your rooms in a unique way to your liking? I just hope that all houses will be unique, not just the game telling you where the room goes.

I am fairly sure houses will be fairly identical to others who build on the same plot. :(

This is just my guess from the trailer. The house is built one room at a time. In the trailer the DB is scrolling through a book showing multiple rooms all for the west wing, bedrooms, enchanters tower, greenhouse. From that I think you do not pick a room and decide where it goes, you pick a location and decide what goes there.

In one of the images of a completed house it appears the Enchanters tower is on the back end of the house rather then the side like shown earlier in the planning stages. From that I'm guessing we have options for where the rooms go.

Promising, I hope this is so.

even if the general layout may be the same, at least I can put furniture and decorations wherever I want. Thats my main beef about existing houses, furniture where I don't want there to be, enchanters tables and alchemy labs in different parts of the house, lack of shrines or statues ect. That's the main reason I want hearthfire. Having different colors to them or themes would be nice but doubtful.

I have been saving my money for a long time in hopes that we would someday be able to do some house customization. I have about 1.2 million dollars saved and enough gems, armor and potions for another 500k.

As far as we know from the trailer, you can design the interior of the rooms to your liking, but I'm not sure if you can choose the placing of your rooms like that.

It shows on the house plan where the extra rooms go, so I doubt we get to change the plan around once we have selected one.

Well either we saw several houses in the trailer, or it looks like there might be some choices.

West wing can be one of the following
enchanters tower
greenhouse
bedrooms

East Wing can be be one of these
kitchen
display area

North wing (back) can be
Enchanters tower

Seems like we cannot have everything in one house, or at least not in the one we have seen. :(

If they are, I'm fine with that.
If they are different, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I wish you could get race appropriate houses - like Dunmer would have the option to live in those giant shells from Morrowwind, etc. (Not sure how you'd drag one of those all the way to Skyrim, but whatever - it is a fantasy game.)
