Will Bethesda fix the textures in the PS3 version?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 5:15 pm

I've been looking at the comparison videos and the textures on the X360 version are vastly superior. Why did Bethesda mess up the PS3 version so much?I remember X360 getting a texture patch for Oblivion after the PS3 version came out with better textures. I'm hoping this will happen.

If they came out with an update that made the game have PS2 graphics but got rid of the awful frame rate drops and skips, i would be happy.

At this point textures are completely irrelevant.

Skyrim PS3, Xbox 360, PC Patch: 'We're Working On It' - Bethesda

Elder Scrolls V console issues to be ironed out.
Published on Nov 15, 2011

Skyrim's technical issues on PS3 and Xbox 360 will be fixed with a console patch Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines has confirmed.
“Patches/updates take a little time. We can’t turn it around quite that fast. It’s been three days. Calm down. We’re working on it,” Hines tweeted in response to a fan.
Skyrim can suffer from slowdown on some PS3s, while some Xbox 360 gamers have reported streaming problems with the epic RPG.
The PC version of Skyrim will also be updated, Hines added.

“We are continuing to work on an update for all platforms to address issues any bugs and perf issues we can,” he said.

Please don't tell me we have to start new characters after the patch hits for the fix (I'm referring to the slowdowns) to take effect, though...

I just don't understand how they didn't catch these problems early on...

I really don't buy that. I think they knew damn well.

Telling fans who bought a broken game to, "calm down," is fantastic fracking PR.

It is not broken for the vast majority of users.

Are you above the magical game save threshold yet? I keep hearing people saying their game is still working fine, but they never give anymore info.

I don't mind having to start over, if that is what needs to be done after the patch to remedy the frame rate issues. I've logged 23 hours on the game, and only completed a handful of quests. So starting over for me wouldn't be so bad, but it still svcks though.

Ok, fine let us be more specific Drogo...

This game isn't consistently reliable to say the least.
In my book that's broken.
Just because some lucky fart faces have the game working fine doesn't mean the game's fine.

Oblivion vampire glitch can be fixed with the original disk... so to cure yourself a certain point you load up with the original disk do something then load in the GOTY disk...

I think they knew too, which is why the never showed off any PS3 footage or photos. It was always Xbox, Xbox, Xbox. With the occasional tweet of "Skyrim on PS3 looks awesome don't worry PS3 owners."

At this point I'm frustrated with the frame rate issues, but I'm not yet pissed. I will see if they can remedy this with a patch or a product recall. This isn't Fallout New Vegas all over again yet, the game has only been out for 4 days at this point, beginning bugs are to be expected, but it's disappointing.

But think about it...

If the knew and sold the game anyway, would they really be working to fix it now?
I think not.

I think not.

Which is why I don't believe they are really working on the major problems. I imagine they have loans out, and needed to pay it back and couldn't afford to delay the game. Maybe it's investors, I'm not sure. So they released the game broken in order to repay their investors or loans, knowing full well they were screwing over a portion of their customers.

I honestly am not holding my breath for a patch that fixes the game breaking problems.

I say to you this people...because many people say....XBOX....XBOX.....XBOX.....etc...etc....

Microsoft pays many company to introduce they products first with gifts...goodies.....etc...etc...this don't mean in any ways that the same product from another company is bad
or worthless.....(its a dirty war out there)

The PS3 cell processor is a revolution compared to the XBOX360 3 CPUs....

Its a 7+1 processor on one die.....if some lame guys don't want to do the job wright with the proper programming.....it's not the console fault....

GT5 check.....Infamous....check.....Little big planet.....check.....killzone.....check...GOW.....check.....dark souls.....check.....Uncharted....check.....etc..etc...

I do not own Fallout 3 or New Vegas, so could someone please tell me if they had problems like this?
And more importantly if they still have said problems?

Because if both are true, then we have no reason to believe anything will be done to fix Skyrims problems.

I have the original Fallout 3 and for the most part it would play fine... There was always one segment of the wasteland that would cause the game to frequently freeze... and the occasional NPC went missing, alongside object physics going mad... But that was completely fine imo...

As for skyrim, i've yet to see the ordinary iron shield in the items menu at anything greater than 16-bit quality resolution

I speak only for the PS3 console....

fallout is an old game....skyrim is a 2011 game....

The source code are not the same....the graphics are not the same...the programming for the PS3 right now are more easier that was for a couple of years...

(to make a compiler work as you pleased on PS3 its very very difficult... (its a vector CPU...the same used on large industries)...compared to XBOX360...and PC's) (open spoken the CPU of PS3 is (was ?!?) a revolution for it's time been)

They will fix it...i don't doubt about it....the question is how quick....
