Will game stores have lines going out the door?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 2:49 pm

I'm planning on arriving at the store I pre-ordered from at 9:00am when they open.

Anyone think there will be big lines? You gonna try get there early?

It takes a few minutes to get through a lengthy line of people given how most stores work midnight releases.

I'll show up like an hour early just to chit chat.

I think I might sit outside 2 hours prior to the opening, just to get a feel for the tingly skin and hard nips going around from the excitement. y'know?

I don't think any stores near me are doing a skyrim midnight release. Some did it MW3. I doubt Tesco is even aware of the awesomeness that is SKyrim :toughninja:

My GameStop is holding a midnight release!!!

Why? Because they just had great sales #s for Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 from just Midnight Release(s) alone. There were around 500+ at the GS for MW3 from what my friend told me (he went to a DIFFERENT GS then mine as well), so that means there would've been WAY more at mine because of the bigger parking lot.

But I imagine there will be prolly around the same #s for Skyrim. 200-250 minimal. It took some speechcraft.. but I got the clerk to confess and he said "Yes.. we ARE holding a Midnight for Skyrim.."

I illimunated..

Meh. I just asked the guy behind the counter if they were doing a midnight release, and in return he said, "Oh hell yes we are... and if we didn't our own employees would be here at midnight behind on the door as well."

I hope my local Gamestop doesn't have lines going out the door, where I live it is expected to be rather cold that night. Plus I'm a hermit IRL anyway, so I just want to go in and out of the store fast on midnight. The sooner I'm back at home the sooner I can plop Skyrim into my 360 and enjoy the game  .

I have an Ocarina of Time t-shirt from one of these, so needless to say my time of midnight releases has passed.

I've found that it's all in where you live. I used to live in downtown houston... and on release day, it was always a circus over at Gamestop.

Now I live in a much smaller town, in another state... and there have never been any lines at all.

Waiting in lines is so 1996 though people... with Amazon release day shipping and Steam, why would anyone go to Gamestop?

When ever I go, the max I see is like 5 people. Most of them are just.. there, I don't know why. But I'm usually in-out.

My Gamestop is in the middle of a mall so even if there is a long line it would have to be really really long to go out the door. That's good because it's likely to be around 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) here.

I saw about 60 people in line at a best buy in CA for Arkham City. They said they were doing a midnight release for Skyrim, so I assume they had enough orders. If I had daddybags I'm sure I would be freezing them off come Thursday night. I'll be in line, but it will be a balmy 40 degrees f, and I survived camping in death valley at 25 degrees f, so I might be ok. I'll take a sweater. It's an adventure.

Right?

It's going to be HI 46, LO 31 for temp Thursday. 20% chance of rain! I don't care about the cold I've been dealing with it so far...

But if it RAINED on us standing in line.. yea I'd be pissed.

Here in Minnesota GameStop rules the roost. My cousin and I will be camping out there, while my brother and his friends are going to another a few towns over.

9 AM? Are you [censored] crazy? I'm going to arrive at my Gamestop at midnight. When the line dies down and is no longer out the door, I'll get outta my car and go inside a wait for like 5 minutes and get my game... You're seriously getting there at 9 AM?

I'm picturing it be rather cold outside of my GAME store so despite the plan of hot cocoa and tea I don't think we'll have a line quite like that.

I'll probably leave my house at 11:45pm maybe 11:40pm lol I hope the lines aren't too bad
I preordered at Best Buy and I like to think that because I live in Sioux Falls, SD the lines if any are not going to amount to much.
Sioux Fall's low that night will be 28 :cold:

Looking at the Forums, I doubt there′ll be lines of people, for everyone seems to have purchased it online.
Anyway, I′ll take the earliest Bus to my GameStop and be ready when it opens. I don′t think there′s such thing as a midnight release, I′ll be there at 9 AM and I′ll probably be the first one to enter and to leave with Skyrim!

Showing up at 9AM is stupid unless you're already awake anyway

Also , just go to Target/Walmart , where nobody actually seeks games... there will be no line there no matter what time it is
