Will we get 3D support from Rage?

Is any 3D support planned? I know Rage is OpenGL, but i hope we get 3D support via a Direct3D wrapper of some sort. I wasn't going to buy the game because it doesn't have it yet, but it was on sale and honestly, i like to PAY for my games to support the awesome work of the artists and programmers and other devs. So here i am creating this thread to ask/inquire about support for 3D via Nvidia 3D Vision, Tridef software or IZ3D from Ati.

I personally game on a 46" 3DTV from less than a meter away and its just jaw-dropping; the game world literately looks as though it has been laid at out before you. Its cheaper and i rate it much higher than my last setup, a 2560x1600 Dell 30" 3007wfp-hc. I hope Carmack tries out a setup like this sometime :)

Who said 3D was DirectX-exclusive?

Its my understanding that a lot of the geometry in the game is merely artists using textures to fool the eye on a 2D screen and to give it stereoscopic 3D support would defeat the purpose of the megatexture technology.

Its a bit like the situation with the original Doom which wasn't quite a 3D engine. All the monsters in Doom, for example, were 2D sprites and you couldn't even look up or down. Quake was the first real 3D rasterized engine, but even that's a bit of a fake 3D where everything is made of flat 2D shapes sewn together. The id tech 6 engine is supposed to be the first fully 3D engine where the geometry is virtualized and the artists can simply draw whatever they want. Real curves, real objects with depth instead of just 2D shapes sewn together and overlayed with textures.
