Will Mysticism Return?

Post » Tue Jan 29, 2013 9:59 am

Hey all,

Re-booting Oblivion the other day got me thinking, the Mysticism was removed from Skyrim to simplify things. But the lore explanation is that spells aren't naturally part of "schools." Just categorized under such by mages. After the oblivion crisis and the dissolution of the mages guild, the term (and usage) of Mysticism fell out of use. Practicing mages considered its spells to be part of the other schools and the term was dropped.

However TESO is set before the oblivion crisis, wouldn't that mean that mysticism was still a official "school" of magic?

If TESO was to introduce new (or old) spell types i would be happy to see the return of one of my favorite schools, what about you?

Also, won't be upset if it's not in, won't be happy if it is, either way I'm fine.

Very possible I suppose. The game went into production before Skyrim so they very well might draw from Oblivion more.

I'd love to see a return to the diversity that Morrowind had, especially in regards to armour. I hate how the only distinct parts you have in Skyrim are boots, helmet and gauntlets.
Having said that, I'd be happy if Mysticism never came back. It just never made sense as a school. It's magic, it's *all* mystical!

Also, as far as the lore goes, this game is set long before any of the five single-player games, so for all we know we could be looking at a completely different system.
