Will a patch fix the performance issues?

Seeing as how everyones performance mileage is varying with various rigs, I was wondering: Will a patch from bethesda or a driver update from ati/nvidia adress some of these issues? Or what we are seeing now performance wise is what we can expect to have from this point forward?

Just for reference:
My rig is a i7 960 3.2 ghz quad core with a 3.4ghz turbo boost,6 gigs of 1600 ddr3 ram, a gtx 460 1gb,windows 7 64 bit. My settings are at high, 4x aa,8xaf,medium shadows and a 1440x900 res. Normally I get a stable 60 fps but when im runnung towards a town the fps will drop noticably. Im almost ready to run out and buy another gtx 460 for sli to solve this, however im not sure adding another card will neccesarily help..

BGS is really when it comes to releasing games that are FULL of bugs. However, they are really good when it comes to fixing everything for the most part. We should be seeing a series of patches over the next week or two that will remove all of this horrid issues. Then over the next few months we will see patches that fix far less severe general gameplay issues. :D
