Will Skyrim GOTY also be on the next gen consoles?

Post » Mon Feb 25, 2013 1:59 am

It's likely the GOTY edition will be out after the next gen consoles come out (well at least the PS4).

Do you guys think it will be on the next gen consoles as well?

No, it's very unlikely.

No. While it might be backwards compatible, it won't be re-written for a new generation of consoles. That's for the next Fallout/Elder Scrolls game.

No.
Enough with these topics. We have too many.

I can't find the other thread.

Unlikely. Kinda tired of the PS4 topics myself.

I'm sure we'll get a GOTY but only for the PS3, NOT the PS4.

Rumor has it that the PS4 itself will not be backward compatible. I hope that's not true.

It won't be backwards compatible. They pretty much said this at the press conference. Though with different wording.

I am not so sure guys....the rerelease of the HD collections is a pretty sweet deal nowadays for publishers and with the new consoles using PC like specs and hardware it would be really easy to do a "maxed out" GOTY version of the game; with the hi res textures, draw distances etc and slaping on it a $40 price with all the expansions. Makes a lot of buisness sense to me; especialy since if they release a GOTY it would be toward the end of the year, when we probably be seeing it for about the same price for the current consoles, but a HD Console Skyrim might tide them over and even give them a bit more time to release Fallout 4.
Just look at it this way, they could do almost just code in the PC version with little or no costs because of the new arquictecture of the consoles

Me too, that really stinks if it's true. They'll milk anything they can as long as they can from us.

they plan to allow the player to stream old games. they will be streamed from a computer to your console. you can't put the actual game in the console.

But what is that gonna say for the hundreds of dollars of ps3 games that one has already purchased?? Will these digital copies have to be purchased again??

I don't think so.

The PS4 releases in the holiday season, and then I think it's probably got another year until it becomes truly commercially viable and we see the big titles start coming out for it. The current gen consoles will keep much of their support until then and I'd imagine we'll see a GOTY before then.
