Will TESO take over the Online universe?

Due to the large quantity of Elder Scrolls players, what are your thoughts on TESO taking over a massive proportion of the Online community? Will this game divert WoW players? Or will the game crumble and become an utter failure?

As we all already know, the game isn't actually being developed by the Bethesda team entirely, rather Zenimax Online. I myself have never played one of their games, so I can not speculate on previous games. Perhaps others here on the forums have and would like to share their thoughts?

All in all, will you be playing TESO?

Well, fantasy in MMO genre should be strong, so I expect at least 1 mill pre-order, but Ive reason to beleive this might not reach their expectation though.

I'd be surprised if it becomes the next big player of MMOs.

WoW is HUGE. No single game will take it down.

Also, this will be (as far as I know) ZeniMax Online's first game.

That I can agree on.. Yeah, I had never heard of them myself, so I was assuming that this was their first.

Yeah, I'd say around that mark, maybe a little less for the pre-order. I hope it can at least reach the modern online gamer's expectation.. If not, I dare say it will fall sadly.

My first thought is that if I were a DEV I would love you for the thread title. However, I am a bit more cynical in regards to an MMORPG'a ability to really break big in the current market outside of "big hyped launch sales." With only one recent exception (GW2) most all such games have failed to meet and live up to expectations no matter how well done in recent times. No game is perfect but The Secret World is fantastically done for its niche and couldn't sell more than 200k. SWTOR was huge at launch but then fell so sharply in player population that it has become a developmentally abandoned gravity sink with its owner and publisher up for sale after the big money invested gamble they took failed to net adequate return. TESO has a big name to live up to and I don't know how it will do. Too many MMORPGs are being done too much like single player games to have lasting appeal. That is what really determines an MMORPGs success. Lasting appeal in a flooded market...
