Will the XBOX 360 version be region free?

Post » Wed Apr 13, 2011 8:56 am

Hi Guys, I'm in Australia but have a friend in the US who I've ordered the New Vegas Collector's Edition to be sent to him for him to send to me. What are the chances that the game will be region free so that the US version works on my Australian 360? I know that Fallout 3 was region free so my fingers are crossed that this will be also. If anyone knows please answer ASAP so I can maybe cancel my order if required. Thank you.

On your xbox disc, does it say NTSC? That's the US region code I think. Can someone confirm this?

Yes, NTSC is US region code while PAL is Europe.

No, I doubt this game will be region free, as that isn't up to the developers, but Xbox itself. They have region codes, and that can't be changed unless they make a new Xbox.

FO3 was, but that was Bethesda. NV is Obsidian, and things may be different.

Thanks for your replies guys.

My 360 is PAL but my TV outputs PAL/NTSC. I have other US games that play fine on it but had others that don't. I think it is up to the developers whether they lock it just the US/NTSC region or make it region free.

I'm hoping someone from Obsidian might read this and let me know. I'm sure there would be plenty of others who too would be interested to know prior to release date (making it too late to cancel pre-orders).

Just saw that Alpha Protocol from Obsidian was region free, so that's encouraging.
