Isn't it enough for you console noobs to be able to play the game?
But on topic, most of the time editors require better hardware than the minimum to play a game so unless the editor is somehow optimised for consoles I don't think so. Also, why would you ask a question no one knows?

anything even remotely similar to Far cry 2's map maker or Halo Reach's Forge 2.0 would make this game a must buy.

Forge isn't that good (i'm a "forger" myself).
FarCry2 has terrible peices - only the greatest map makers can make a decent looking map, and everyone else ends up with huge repetative textured walls and EVERYTHING looking broken, and even then the "pros" have to design their maps to look deliberately broken.
"neokinesis" - look him up for sixy FC2 maps.

OMFG NO.

Holy crap, can the console noobs please use the search function? There's about a thousand threads on this forum about the EXACT same thing - and the answer is always the same: NO.

The current editor is far to advanced and complicated, and its recommended that you have "at least 4gb of ram", which is around 8x more ram than the console has available.

If there was a version of the editor for console, they would have said something, or it would have shown up at a conference or a demo video or something.

The fact is consoles are too weak to handle the MASSIVE data sets required to use the editor properly, and the consoles don't have the controls to use the editor either (how do you flow-graph with a 6-axis?).

Please, please, PLEASE stop making these threads. Its getting insanely annoying.

no, its the fact that this question comes up SO often its not even funny any more. Im a regular to these forums, Crymod and Incrysis, and in general a question is asked once, and then it doesnt come up again for maybe a month or so. And if it does, its just a "look here [insert URL to original topic] /closed".

However, here that doesnt seem to work. Its been said hundreds of times that the answer is "no", but we continuously get questions from the console community if there will be a console editor.

We've answered "no" every single time, and we've given good reasons to why there wont be a console editor: 256mb of ram wont even load an empty map in Sandbox 2, optimization can only go so far, controls, etc.

Crytek would have said something by now if there was a console editor, but they have not. Now, imagine if you answered the same question, on the same forum, with the same answer for MONTHS. It gets insanely annoying. At this point a simple google search will tell you the answer and probably link you to a thousand similar threads on this forum.

There is no search function here, which is shy these forums are filled with spam questions.

Derp derp Crytek. Fix your website.

That's called LiveCreate. Only developers will have that feature.

A map editor is possible, but if nothing has been said of it, then everyone should assume Crytek won't build one for the consoles.

And by thinking about it, it would be a hell of a job building a map, especially since we're talking about NY here. It would be frustrating for those who aren't even good mappers to build up one building, unless the insides come with objects (Prefabs), or just simple plain buildings with nothing in it.

You should also take into consideration that Far Cry 2 was based around natural environments. Natural Environments which shows more terrain, loads of tree's, grass, rivers etc. There's no complication's, meaning the foundations of the level design is easy. But for a city, where there's loads and loads of objects, it would be frustrating job on a console.

Also, Doomlord, it is unavoidable to stop these topics from popping up and around. It is something every fan site member has to become use to. It would be nice to see some sort of FAQ page here, with all the information we need. But even so, newbie's will keep making it so they hear it from other people's mouth.

I am a bit of a perfectionist so I was able to make some detailed maps right off the bat on Far Cry 2 console, whenever I got them into a full party it was well rated and voted for replay. and one person I played with who never used map-editor type of creation tools in any game made a good map in terms of structure, than I touched up the detail and art.

It might take pro's to make amazing maps all around, but beginners can make maps that work well gameplay wise if the have the creativity, otherwise it takes trial and error. but the trial and error is part of the fun learning process of the editor

I never used a better map editor than Far Cry 2 on Consoles, but I sure appreciate it for what it's worth. some people may think it's better than nothing, I see it as everything I need. the game used Sand Box, so it's a matter if the consoles handle both sandbox and Cryengine 3 side-by-side well enough, and for crytek to code the editor interface for the controller and in game objects.

The sandbox editor is probably a PC exclusive. You console **** already get first rights to the beta, don't get too greedy

No one can answer this besides Crytek. You will only get opinions from the community.

IMO, it will probably happen. I am not talking about sandbox/map editor running on the consoles (Play LBP or ModNation if that's what you want). Sandbox export for consoles is probably what will be available. There will have to be limits for the PS3/360. Imagine someone doing this on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybxG4-92Sts&feature=fvw or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YG5qDeWHNmk

It would be a smart move from Crytek, if they really want to break into the console market and sustain prolonged interest in the game.

People are still playing Unreal Tournament on PS3, just because it supports maps and mods...and that game came out years ago.

+++I can't find an edit button.+++

I wanted to add that of course they will milk us (PC & Consoles) with DLCs before we see a free sandbox editor for the new engine.

@roberticopsn, you touch on an interesting point about the DLC. I totally agree with your Unreal sentiment by the way. Neokinesis and I have been talking about this extensively in my "Crysis got robbed" thread. I don't know how much you can read about map editing but we have a mini-novel since we are huge mapping enthusiast. I wont fill this thread up with the essays we write on my thread, if your really interested, you can check out the last 10 or so post on this link to the thread. I think I proposed my idea on Aug 20.

http://www.gamesas.com/forums/general_forum/crysis_gets_robbed_gamespot_e3_editors_choice_awards

@SamuelJackson, there have been some insightful post about the possibility. One that rings loudest in this thread is, if they had it, they would have advertised by now if you consider their previous release date. The only thing I can say to give any hope of the possibility is, there was a postponement. This usually happens because they are unhappy with the finished product. When a release date gets near, a lot of player expectations become clear by forums like this. This gives the developer a second chance to get it right and I am certain the idea of a map editor on console is a decision they are not taking lightly. If the answer is no, I am sure there is a great reason for it (do not think it is because it is impossible). More likely a no-compete contract with Ubisoft or a DLC complication with EA. Either way I would not hold Crytek responsible.

No its impossible. The consoles controllers dont have enough controls and dont have enough power to have a map maker

This comment above is what I am talking about. There is no technical reason why a map editor is not achievable. Map Editor is not a Cryengine 3 Sand box. Now think out of the box cryprophet and look up games like Far Cry I.P. or Far Cry 2. Both had great map editors and Halo's Forge 2.0 is a more current example. Now, think about this. One of the Core teams on the Crysis 2 development is the former Free Radical Studios, makers of the legendary Time Splitters which had an equally Epic map editor (psst, it was on the PS2). There are a million ways to create a Map Editor UI on the 360/PS3, So please, enough with "Consoles are so lame! They can never handle a map editor" comments, it just is not true.

You know, most of the consoles that we play on have USB support. Just get a keyboard and mouse, Then all you need is an editor with the game and you're set. So if you're not comfortable with a controller, get your keyboard + mouse and plug it into your PS3/360.

So there's an alternative for those who may not like it on the controller. But at the end of the day, the editor sometimes can be a learning curve, depending on how complex the editor is.

There's still a decent chance of a map editor I think.
I mean, naturally it's somthing they want to advertise -
wich they havn't -
but it could just be marketing. The "Hype Train" if you will.
The idea is to consistantly hype players up untill launch and
get almost compulsive purchases. It's a fairly common strategy.
