Will this game take YOU'R #1 spot?

Post » Mon Oct 01, 2012 3:40 pm

I'm no different from all of you here, i'm sure you, just like me, have read every interview, seen every gameplay video, webisodes, developer diarys and spastically hit F5 on bethblog.
So since we are all madly anticipating this game.. i thought i should ask you if Dishonored will take the #1 spot on your best game ever?

For me, it's always been Half-life 2, something about that game, narrative, graphics, animations, sound just immersed me into a beautiful world and no game have yet to come close.
There havent been a game i'm looking forward to more than Dishonored (maybe a split between "The last of us" and this game then) atleast not that i can remember.
Dunwall as a city, the artistic yet rugged and dirty world, the characters, the different choices you as a player can make, the stealth part, the narrative, corvo the protoganist, the upgrades and so on and so on.. this game seems like top contender for #1 spot on my list of best games ever made.. all categorys.

So, 10 more days (12 for us in EU), what do you think.. will it take the #1 place on your list?

I try not to have "top games", but I definitely think Dishonoured will ultimately sit in my top ten if it lives up to expectations.

I really want it to be my favorite game of all time and it is looking like it might be just that so far. If not a really good title. And if you are a true Dishonored follower, you'd know who Arnold Timish is. (if not you will learn by checking the wiki or the preview from QuakeCon 2011)

If anyone can say with certainity that a game they have never played is their #1, something is terribly wrong with their judgement.

Oh i love these duscussions *claps hands*
I never said it is, i said it looked like it could steal the #1 spot.

Who said i never played it?
How can you tell me my judgment is wrong?

I can see by your high postcount that you think your entitled to tell people on these forums what they can and can't think/say/belive/hope for..... thats not the case. Ok?

It depends...my top games are always games that have stood out a little in their genre, that were special, but ones that I also played for years.

So Timesplitters 2, Civilization 3, Eternal Darkness, Tekken 3... these are my "top games" though there is no top game between them. I am excited about this game however, and it is particular to it's genre of first person action and it does have replayability...we'll see.

Probably not, there are several awesome games from the past that also have a lot of nostalgia attached to them, and it would be very hard for a modern game to beat those. That said, I'm sure I will enjoy the game very very much.

For me, it's always been Half-life 2, something about that game, narrative, graphics, animations, sound just immersed me into a beautiful world and no game have yet to come close.
Personally I was rather disappointed in HL2 for several reasons, but one of the main things are because I liked Black Mesa a lot more than City 17. Not a bad game by any means though :)

And if you are a true Dishonored follower, you'd know who Arnold Timish is.
I have no idea who that is, and I like it that way. I haven't read up on this game or anything about the game world since I realised that I will like the gameplay very much, and want to know as little as possible about the story so it's more fresh when I actually play it. I followed both the development of Morrowind and Oblivion to death and pretty much knew the games before I even played them, and I think that ruined those game experiences a bit. So nowdays I'm careful to not read many previews and interviews if it's a game I'm really interested in.

I doubt it, but you never know. They really need to make an excellent narrative for me to consider this.

It has tough competition. But we'l see, it might blow me away and get a spot in my list. Idk if it can go number 1 though, that's tough.

Skyrim, Fall Out 3, Tales Of games, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Singularity, Metro 2033, Bulletstorm, Portal 1 and 2, L.A. Noire, Darksiders, Guild Wars 2, Psychonauts, Bioshock 1 and 2, Bastion, Alan Wake, Baiten Kaitos, and thats all I can remeber off the top of my head. But Dishonored will easily be the best game I played this year.

Gathering everything I've seen, heard and read about Dishonored, theoretically it will be. But that's just "theoretically" we will have to experience it for the 100% precise opinion.

#1 stealth game is very possible and likely, considering it's kind of slim pickings when it comes to the genre. I suppose it also depends on how Hitman: Absolution turns out when it releases in a couple months.

As for it being #1 across all games, I can't say that any single game will ever hold that title definitively. There are just so many diverse, fantastic games out there, it's hard to truly pinpoint one as my ultimate favorite at this point. A list of the top 5 or 10 games (not in a specific order) is do-able, but other than that, I'm just too spoiled by so many great games to have a true #1 :P .

Aw, Shenmue.. what a classic. Remember when i got a job at the docks, driving the forklift and later race with it.
Dreamcast had some innovate and groundbreaking games.. loved the controller and the little VMU(i think?) screen.

My favorite game of all time is Silent Hill from 1999.I doubt whether Dishonored can top that, but it may well make it into my top 10!
