Will this game work with Intel?

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:07 pm

I bought Fo3 for my new laptop only to find it crashing every few seconds. Why did I sell my Ps3 version of Fallout 3... :( I have Intel HD graphics with an Intel Core i5-460M processor. So will it run? Because Fo3 doesn't even pass the birth. I even tried downloading a save file off the internet and it crashed 20 seconds after...

Woops this shouldn't be in the dlc issues section. Can some MOD move this?

Let's put it this way, nothing Intel makes for video will get official support. It is bad, it is slow, it is crude, and never intended for use with good games. Personally, it's my feeling that if Bethesda doesn't support the awful thing, then I really shouldn't be doing so, either.

And yet, I think some people with the same crap for video have made claims that the game could at least start, and crawl along in the lowest possible settings at the lowest possible resolution. jerkily, fuzzily, etc. Although some who have done it claimed they are perfectly happy with their results, I know that I would not be.

Minimum System Requirements (VGAs corrected for Obsidian stupidity):

* Windows XP/Vista/Win7
* 1GB System RAM (XP)/ 2GB System RAM (Vista)
* 2.0 Ghz Dual Core processor
* Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 256MB RAM
(NVIDIA 6800 "GS" or better/ ATI X1300XT or better)
{Added my note here, the X1600 Pro & up really, and
avoid both the Geforce 6800 SE, and the 6800 XT}
* 10 GBs of free hard drive space

Recommended System Requirements:

* Windows XP/Vista/Win7
* Intel Core 2 Duo processor (or the equivalent AMD Phenom)
* 2 GB System RAM
* Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM
(NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI 3800 series)
* 10 GBs of free hard drive space

Nope. It's has the same, if not slightly higher requirements than Fallout 3.

The newer core i3, i5 & i7 series, aka "sandy bridge" have better built in graphics than any previous generation of Intel cpus. They;'ve just been released > http://www.intel.com/en_AU/consumer/products/processors/core-family.htm?iid=en_AU_01_2ndgen+gg_headline be interesting to get feedback from users of this tech & FO3 New Vegas. ..

Sandy Bridge's improvements are almost 99% related to processor performance. Compared to the piggybacked chip in the current i3, i5, i7 multi-core Core CPUs, only the raw speed was better, It can now finally match the fastest of AMD's old HD 4200 Chipset video chips, and even the really horrible lowest low end HD 5n00 card, but only for the speed.

We're still talking ugly image resolution, folks, and I still am of the opinion that when it's a product as bad as Intel's video has always been, even if now there's an incremental improvement, when the developer declines to support it, why should we attempt to do so?

tbh if your trying to run this game without any form of dedicated graphics you should probably just not. bethesdas games since morrowind have all been pretty high end for the generation of computers (i say morrowind as I am unable to speculate as to the power needed for fallout 1/2 and TES 1/2). So if you have a desktop throw a mid range graphics card in for 50 bucks and u shouldnt have much problems. if you want ps3 style you need a real heavy duty machine to pump out that power.
