In a way yes, there is an article lying around somewhere that mentioned how we get faction based housing.

And I recall hearing that there are more than two possible houses this time around, possibly as Colonel Martyr said, one for each of the joinable factions in the game.

And if you are a high roller at a casino, then they'll give you a key to a house there.

If it's something faction based, would you lose your place and storage contents if you're no longer with that faction?

Good question. I'd assume so. It might be added incentive not to cross your employers if you risked the chance of losing all your stuff in storage because you turned on them. More than likely though, it will just make getting to your house and back alive a much more difficult proposition, as you'll face gunfire coming and going - and following you inside.

And you'll end up with bodies everywhere. I mean, do you know how hard it is to get blood out of shag carpetting?

Lord I hope not, the house in megaton was while moderatly functional was more of an annoyance than anything else. especialy if you made the mistake of buying any of the theams and thus turned the place into an obstical cource.

It was far more usefull to mod my own into the map and use that instead

This. Is. Nice.
Though I hope there will be some homes (Suites :D) that I could live in no matter who I join, or if I even join anyone :nuke:

That brings up a question, because you have faction based housing, which might already be themed, For example NcR might have the flag and some weapons, and Mr house might have some poker chips lying around your apartment. Do you think we will still be able to buy our own themes?

Faction based housing could be pretty inconvenient. Hopefully you'll be able to purchase multiple houses as well as shack up in a friendly faction base like in Oblivion.

You can get a suite at Lucky 38, hopefully you don't have to be on House's good side to use it.

Will the suite be yours forever? I figured it was more like a one-night room rental. And what if after you get the room, you get kicked out?

it would be too gamebreaking for them to make you lose all your stuff in you got on the factions bad side, you could prob sneak in and get it or something, kill everyone around then get your stuff, but to lose it all, i doubt thats gonna be happening, but as far as housing in general goes, you can prob live in every town or settlement just like in fallout 3, almost every settllement in FO3 had beds and storage, i lived in rivet city a lot, or the robot repair center, so you won't be limited to faction only housing, you might not want to even join a faction. so there will be plenty of options for housing i think, even more than in FO3. that was one of the complaints about FO3, only two official upgradeable houses, only one was really realistic sicne blowing up megaton kinda svcks, what a way to get a house, having to blow up an entire town, housing should be fairly easy, if you have enough caps you should be able to buy a house in each town and live anywhere you want with a bed.

I think it is highly likely that you will be able to get your own house. Perhaps the game will let you own more then just one house this time? Maybe on for the faction that you support, and others open for purchase in towns and settlements. If you have enough money, you can establish a network of safe houses across the Mojave region. What do you guys think about this idea?

Some might argue that it would be game making if that was to happen due to the following sequence, in that you do things which go against the relevant faction thus reaming them so to speak and the respond by reaming you by removing at least easy access to the house you had with them, which would happen to include everything you had stored in that particular house. Thus showing a complete lack of consequence for the faction turning on you due to your getting in their bad books.
While the point you made about sneaking/slaughtering your way to the house, I think has some validity in that if you managed to do that you could get at least some of your gear back, but I wouldn't be surprised if the choicest pieces of gear had already been appropiated for use by said faction.

Edit: I'm saying this as I personally think it would be game breaking if you were to ruin your standing with a faction you had a house with and you still had free and 'easy' access to the house you had/have with them.
I do admit I can also see your point that it would be game breaking for this to happen to some people, but also conversely it would also be game breaking with regards to what I've just mentioned didn't happen to others.

I just want multiple houses. I hated that Megaton was the only house i had in most playthroughs. It was central but it was the only place you could store your stuff that was actually yours. It made fast traveling almost a necessity to me because i didn't like traveling that huge wasteland on foot to get back to my one house in the middle of the map.

What i would like to see is a house that is not connected to any person/settlement/faction. One that you can find or buy tucked away somewhere that is essentially your fortress of solitude, your home away from home. Maybe you could come across a small broken down underground bunker or something and then obtain a quest to rebuild it back into good conditions (based on your skills).

thats another way of looking at it, there are gonna be consequences for our actions i agree, they could do something like that where you couldn't get back in your house but all you would have to do is kill everyone near your house, the consequence is that faction becoming your enemy, so your house would be in enemy territory i guess, but as far as housing in general, there's prob gonna be several options including if you decide to not be with any faction, there will prob be a house for if you don't want to be part of a group like that.
