Win-RAR vs 7-Zip?

Post » Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:44 am

I need one of these programs to be able to install certain mods where you need to extract files, etc. The 7-zip looks like it's free and Win-RAR is $30 a year. Can anyone recommend one or the other?? Thanks!

7-zip is free and so in my books is the one to choose. Win-Rar was good, I liked it and was comfortable with it (during the trial period). I honestly don't get why something like this doesn't come with Windows. But anyways, let's not go down that road. :P

7-zip is what I use and it works great.

Thanks for the reply! I was watching one of Gopher's Vids on Youtube and he was using the Win-RAR but posted links to that AND the 7zip. FREE is great in my book too! :)

WinRAR is free, I've been using the trial version for years.

Just close the little message telling you the trial is over. It lets you keep using it.

I know. I laughed pretty hard at the "trial".
