Windows XP Support?

Will BFG edition support Windows XP SP3 and XP64bit SP2? (SP3 equivalent)

Edit: This post of mine is to verify whether or not the game requires a later OS. But I don't believe that's necessary since it's only an upgraded version of the original. id Tech engines are renowned by me for their compatibility. And nobody needs to get worked up over what OS's they use. Operating systems are tools, not toys. (Though we kind-a use them for that). Keep it clean here.

Some can afford to upgrade some can't. My reasons for sticking with my system is because I cannot really afford to buy new licenses every few years with fresh hardware, but I can save up just enough for a nice little game to play sometime. I've been into the Doom series for a long while, so, just bare with me on common tastes in what games we like, again we don't need to get political about what OS we run. I just want to know if I will be able to run it on my current system. Windows XP Professional 64bit. (Got it for a discount, works better than my previous attempts with vista, and 7 trial versions. Unless we all own identical brand built PC's, things will work differently for everyone.)

Unless they've gone DX10 or 11 with this I'd consider it highly unlikely that they won't support XP, but nobody's seen the official system requirements yet so a guess is the best you're going to get.

Thanks Jimmy. That brings me some relief.

I should probably also add that based on recent-ish entries in Carmack's twitter (e.g. about quad-buffer OpenGL stereo) the evidence is that yes, the BFG edition still uses OpenGL, so there's no reason for it to not support XP.

It's an old game with some enhancements thrown in to modernize it. I'd say that Windows XP support is a given.
