Winter's Coming...

Post » Wed Nov 27, 2013 2:25 pm

So, today was the season's first "real snow" where I live (if you can call it that; fast, steady snowfall over a period of three hours, though we've had light flurries the past couple of weeks). Made me think of this thread.

What is your favourite part of winter? I like winter for many reasons, but I'd like to see what other people think of it. What do you do during the winter, what do you dislike about the season, why? Just thought it would make fun duscussion. :)

I myself like snowfall, mostly because beautiful piano music is associated with it, but also because it still reflects the wonder I had of it as a child. It also just feels so serene when little wind is involved. I could do without the cold, though... :stare:

My favorite part is March 21st, when it is over.

The cold. I love the cold.

Worst part? Ice. Too bad they go together

Winter is like a terrible movie. The best part is the credits. Because that's when you known it's over. Winter svcks.

Being my first winter where I am, it's the first time I've witnessed actual snowfall, so for me I'm just excited about all of it. I've never worn a beanie or scarf before either. Almost everything to do with the winter experience is new to me, so I'm just enjoying the novelty in it for now. :3

Christmas time with the lights and the smells and the good eats. Everything else svcks and I dislike it. I want to move to Hawaiii or somewhere with no snow or cold lol.

Winter where I am at is just free air conditioning. We have our occasional dips into the 40's and 30's (Fahrenheit).

A friend of mine that lived in Skyrim Wisconsin tells me horror stories of winter, though.

There's 30 cm of snow outside, and it's cold as [censored]. Winter came like a month ago here. What do I love about winter? I love the snow and how it makes the landscape so beautiful; I love that it's dark 20 hours a day, and I like sitting in my warm living room with the fireplace and drinking spiced wine and cognac while I look outside the window and be glad that I'm in here and not out there where it's like -20 C.

Snow first came earlier this month around here, and it's been going better than expected so far. The cold is nice when it's not too bad (which it hasn't been), and the snow is fairly pretty. But if I forgot why I hated winter so much, I'll soon receive a grim reminder.

Damn you, I've never seen snow, let alone snowfall. Wish I could though.

Yeah, our winter gets to 15 degrees Celsius, sometimes 10 here. Not sure what the converts to in Fahrenheit :/

I had a friend from Wisconsin also, and she uploaded a few pictures of the snow over Facebook. It looked...nice, imo.

Worst part of winter is the wind chill.

I live in Wisconsin, near lake Michigan, so it's too early to tell if winter's decided to stay yet. There is a thin sheet of snow outside, though, but I'm not sure how long it'll last.

Anyways, I love it. The cold, the pretty snow. Last year I started the tradition of making Cream Stew every Friday and eat it while playing Dark Souls. Dark Souls is optional now since I already played it quite a bit.

I do get sick of it after a while though. Remember, Wisconsin, so it's just as hard to tell when it'll be leaving, too. Sometimes the snow goes all the way up to late March.
