my character is a barbarian in skyrim. And it seems like I have to join the college of Winterhold to get into Saarthal for the Forbiddenlegend quest, and a part of the main quest.
Now I don't want to join the mages at winterhold. So is there a way to get into Saarthal without doing quests for the mages. Or is there a way to leave the college.

I already gained entry into the building by showing that I was a dragonborn. But I still get the quest "First steps", I simply do want to any quests for the mages.

Its simple, I despise all the weavers of the black arts so I dont qeusts for those damn magicians. If someone could help me with this that would be great.

Just commit to doing that one quest with the college and never look back at them. The MQ will likely have you visiting their library later anyway and at least you have this out of the way.

There is NO way into Saarthal without joining the mages. They unlock the door in. On the PC you might be able to get in with console commands but that might trigger the quest anyway.
