Wireless at 20,000 feet

"There's... someone on the wing... Let me just Tweet this..."

I'm sitting on a plane at 20,000 feet (or actually closer to 38,000 ft, to be pedantic) and I couldn't help but marvel at how far technology continues to advance in my own lifetime. We've gone from banning all electronic devices during flight to providing free wireless, upon which I now write this post. Living in the future sure is grand! :D

What technological marvels do you find most amazing?

This whole ban of Electronics was not for any technical reasons, it was so the airlines could charge $10 a minute for AirPhone calls. It is only once consumer demand was such that the airlines finally acquiesced.

For me, the most technical marvel is the Internet. I can imagine doing my job, or any other job today, without the Internet. Like the car was 40 years ago, the Internet touches everyone in the world in some way, even those who do not have a computer or phone.
