Wishlist for future DLC (Gamejam)

Post » Sun Sep 02, 2012 10:09 am

Heartjhfire took some ideas from a list produced by Gamejam 2012 (whatever that is). So how about if we let Bethesda know what else we'd like to see.

I know there are a lot of possibilities here... just list the following:

* Which ones interest you
* How much they interest you (scale of 0-10)

I've left the following blank so you can cut and paste it, and put up your own opinions on this stuff.
  • Flow based water shader
  • Spears as weapons with a new animation system
  • New stealth options like water arrows and assassinations
  • Guards relight areas
  • Paralysis runes
  • Moving platforms and hanging structures in dungeons
  • Water current in dungeons
  • Dark dungeons, requiring you to light your path as you progress
  • New companion options like switching combat style, getting them to train and even craft for you
  • List favorite followers in the game's menu
  • Build your own home from scratch
  • Seasonal foliage
  • Combine magic to create new attacks
  • Goblin enemies
  • 'Way Gate' fast travel
  • Epic mounts like a flaming horse
  • Mounted combat on horses
  • Dragon mounts
  • 'Soul bug' familiar
  • Kinect-enabled 'shouts'
  • Enhanced water effects
  • Footprints in the snow
  • Verlet surfaces for non-rigid objects ...
  • ... Like fat giants!
  • Ice and fire arrows
  • Werebears!
  • Lycanthropy-specific (werewolf) skill tree
  • Become a flying Vampire Lord
  • New Vampire imp minions
  • New Mudcrab animations
  • Giant Mudcrab enemy

Now here are my thoughts:
  • Flow based water shader - What is it?
  • Spears as weapons with a new animation system - 9
  • New stealth options like water arrows and assassinations - 4
  • Guards relight areas - 7
  • Paralysis runes - 3
  • Moving platforms and hanging structures in dungeons - 7
  • Water current in dungeons - 4
  • Dark dungeons, requiring you to light your path as you progress - 7
  • New companion options like switching combat style, getting them to train and even craft for you - 3
  • List favorite followers in the game's menu - 0
  • Build your own home from scratch - N/A
  • Seasonal foliage - 3
  • Combine magic to create new attacks - 8
  • Goblin enemies - 6
  • 'Way Gate' fast travel - 0
  • Epic mounts like a flaming horse - 2
  • Mounted combat on horses - N/A
  • Dragon mounts - 6
  • 'Soul bug' familiar - Don't know what that is, either.
  • Kinect-enabled 'shouts' - 0
  • Enhanced water effects - 7 (the water could use some tweaks)
  • Footprints in the snow - 5
  • Verlet surfaces for non-rigid objects ... - ??? Huh?
  • ... Like fat giants! - 0
  • Ice and fire arrows - 4
  • Werebears! - 8
  • Lycanthropy-specific (werewolf) skill tree - 6
  • Become a flying Vampire Lord - 2
  • New Vampire imp minions - 0
  • New Mudcrab animations - 2
  • Giant Mudcrab enemy - 6
Other things I'd like to see:

* hardcoe Mode, like New Vegas
* More new weapons: flails, halberds, spiked clubs.

um just a guess but how bout just have them bring the items from morrowind to skyrim IE the armor sets are helmet shoulder arm pants shoes chest
instead of a jumpsuit lol
and more weapons is always nice
place one hand sword on back like a two handed weapon hmm lets see

yea just bring back the mechanics from oblivion and morrowind back as in the magic maker and such i guess

I guess I'll take a crack at it. I left out some features I had no comment for.
  • Flow based water shader - Visual improvements are always nice, and this is one hell of an improvement. I loved how the water looked when they showed it off
  • Spears as weapons with a new animation system - I don't really care for this one. There's nothing wrong with adding more weapons in at all, but then you would probably have to change the perk tree for two-handed weapons. Because of this, I don't think it will be added.
  • New stealth options like water arrows and assassinations - I really like this idea. It reminds me of the "Thief" series. Stealth in the game right now requires little planning. I think this would help remedy that problem too.
  • Moving platforms and hanging structures in dungeons - I think this would make for some interesting platforming in dungeons and I'm all for platforming.
  • Seasonal foliage - Again, visual improvements are always nice. It's subtle, but a nice touch.
  • Combine magic to create new attacks - I like this idea, but I didn't like the example given in the video. It would be nice if it would create completely new magic spells. The video made it seem as if we'd just be combining two spells to cast a third in a different way. But I guess that was just an example.
  • Goblin enemies - I don't know much Elder Scrolls lore, but are these guys in it? If so, I wouldn't see a problem with it.
  • 'Way Gate' fast travel - Maybe this is just me, but I think this would be a nice addition. I enjoy roleplaying and fast travelling using the map just ruins my immersion. But again, as long as it is lore friendly.
  • Epic mounts like a flaming horse - This is actually something I don't really want at all. I don't know why, but I don't like things being "too epic" all the time. What I'd like to see however is variety in horses, like there was in Oblivion. Some horses have more health, others are faster, others have more stamina, etc.
  • Dragon mounts - Again, I don't really want this. It might be fun for a few minutes, but I think I'd grow tired of it real fast. And being able to fly over massive areas of land in a matter of minutes makes the map seem far smaller than it is and tends to ruin the exploration side of things.
  • Kinect-enabled 'shouts' - I know they already added this, but I actually like this idea. However, I do wish they could do more. I wish companies would find clever and interesting ways of utilising the kinect, then it might be a worth-while purchase.
  • Footprints in the snow - This could tie in well with the stealth aspect of the game. Foot prints can be tracked by enemies and you can be found out. Again, it would add more planning to the stealth side of the game.
  • Giant Mudcrab enemy - I can't really explain why, but I want this.
In conclusion, I guess the main thing I want from the above list would be more stealth options. I want to have to think about how I'll approach a kill instead of shooting an opponent from afar. I'd also like to see more patrolls from bandits and other things in caves, so you'd have to time everything just right. You could extinguish torches and maybe throw nearby miscelanious items to distract guards. Footprints in the snow could alert guards and you could have them follow the prints to the source of the owner.

As a side note, maybe you should add the below video to the openning post. I'm sure a lot of people, maybe even everyone on these forums, has seen it, but it could be used to refresh their memories if nothing else.
