Witch Doctor build?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:56 am

Hey guys.

I've been watching alot of Diablo III stuff lately (looks like an awesome game btw), and a particular class caught my attention: the Witch Doctor.

Essentialy the Witch Doctor appears to be a Necromancer/Conjuror of some sort, using poisons and incantations to destroy his/her enemies minds and bodies. If you want to know more watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5T16V_CCeA video.

Now my question is: How would one go about making this type of person in Skyrim, not only in skills, but also in RP ways?

So far I'd go with a Redguard for race, yes lore does not fit at all and yes skills are not optimal but give a nice background and et voila. Plus their tattoos are the most fitting. And for armor, Forsworn obviously, maybe dragon priest masks. And as for skills, so far only Conjuration and Alchemy, with Light Armor, stick out.

Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions? Discuss!

I've seen a bit about the Diablo 3 Witch Doctor, but don't know a ton about it. That said, here's what I think:

Race - Redguard (since you wanted it, but some skills may be useful too. Plus, poison resistance seems to fit.)

Skills:
Conjuration
Alchemy
Light Armor

to which I would add -

One handed - think of it as mostly a poison delivery system if you prefer. No fancy dual-wielding or blocking; just grab a Forsworn Axe (which is visually perfect for this), apply a nasty poison, and swing away.

Enchanting - this isn't really necessary, but it may be thought of as a way of 'stealing the enemy's power'. It also gives you something to do with those souls you're stealing (which you should totally be doing!)

As for RP, you could wander around to the Orc Strongholds and administer to them as a sort of itinerant shaman. Too bad you can't join the Forsworn. You could always RP it that the Forsworn have lost their way, and so you are taking out your vengeance on their heresy or something.

Stay away from cities. The Reach is a suitably wild area to hang around.

You may want to open up the MQ and start looking for shouts, some of which can act as a sort of 'curse' (Marked for Death, e.g.). I wouldn't do all of the MQ with this character, though.

Specific quests and motivations might be difficult to swing.... though Morthal might have some possibilities for you.

That's exactly what I was thinking as well.

And what do you think of Illusion/Alteration? Because... well... those two schools fit as well but are potentialy covered by Alchemy.

And as for the MQ... I've never had a problem with the unlikely hero, If you take my meaning.

Well as skills go I would say just focus on Conjoration and Illusion. It seems to be pretty much what they use in that video. I personally hate Alchemy I either do not use potions or I will use one out of every hundred I find out in the world but you migh need it for your health.

For RP I say you create your own story like:

A group of imperial soldiers killed your child as they were raiding your camp for supplies.
Now you wander around honing your skills and trying to find a spell to bring your son back to life.
Then just go from there.

Also I would get a follower and cover them in Heavy Aromor give them a Greatsword and pretend you summoned a deamon to fight for you.
Its kind of what I do except I also summon wolves to fight with me.

Ugh, just watched that video, along with some other ones as well, and damn Diablo 3 looks like [censored].

I'm not hating on you if you're into it - more power to you if that's your thing, and I hope you get tons and tons of fun from it. But those videos have absolutely zero appeal to me. As a fan of Diablo 2, I don't think I will be getting Diablo 3.

You should get the skull of corruption or 1 of the hagraven staffs for appearances and attack but definitely focus on conjuration and the raise dead spells (dead thralls later), zombies should be your main minions to fight for you...also alchemy to make poisions tipped daggers

When I saw this thread I thought of a traditional witch doctor or shaman (I've never played any of the Diablo games). It sounds cool and I like the ideas presented.
Oh, and I also thought - Ooh eee, ooh ahh ahh, ting tang, walla walla bing bang.

You can't compare Skyrim ( The glorious game of amazingness ) to Diablo 3 ( Which in comparison of Skyrim is a chunk of Shi* ).

Well the build could work but just the reference...
