Witcher playstyle in Skyrim...

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 2:39 am

Hi, I have recently been thinking about playing a PC in Skyrim that would implement the witcher playstyle (Claymore + Alchemy + Minor Magic + A Lot of Monster Slaying). Mind you, I don't really want to recreate Geralt, but I like the idea of the witchers and I would like to RP something similar.

I figured Two-Handed (Claymore) / Alchemy / Light Armor are a must. The Dragon Shouts would substitute the Signs as I am not really interested in a lot of magic. But apart from those 3 skills, I am left wondering what else would be necessary... maybe Block, but so many of the block perks involve shield, I don't know how that would work with a two-handed... maybe stealth, but then no damage multiplier for two-handed...

Also, not having played Oblivion much, how does poisons fare with Two-handed? Most games I have played poisons and fast weapons go hand-in-hand and they loose their efficacy with slower weapons, how does that usually work in the Elder Scrolls?

Thank you.

It's more about the playstyle, not to mention it would be a cool back story, have been raised by a monster slayer order that teaches alchemy to enhance combat. It also makes for good excuse for going around looking for trouble in dungeons.

The blocking perks do seem to pretty much just be for shield users, but I will still be blocking a lot with my 2 hander. I just wont invest perks into it, just increase the skill.
Poisons in ES are applied to your weapon and then once you hit the enemy once they are poisoned by it, and then the poison is gone. Attack speed is irrelevant.
Sounds like a great idea, without even realizing it my character will end up being a lot like the Witcher. He's a badass anyway

hehe, witcher is a great game :P
anyway, poisons lasts for 1 hit (2 if you have the master perk) so there is no difference between the slow and fast weapons exept the time it takes for you to actually land the blow. if u miss then ull still have the poison.
btw remember geralt uses silver longswords against monsters :P
