Words of Advice (non beta tester)

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:53 pm

Some words of advice friends. Bethesda (as much as we love them) make games that are inherently buggy. Might I suggest backing up your saves before installing it, maybe to an external drive, I saved both of my files to cloud. I've heard stories from beta testers who said that the beta of Dawnguard actually destroyed their save files rendering them inaccessible, destroying hours of work. So better safe than sorry, back up your saves, you'll thank me later :)

DO THIS BEFORE INSTALLATION OF THE DLC!!!

Never had any problems with my save file, but as a general rule of thumb I do suggest you guys make a back up save right before you install.

It never hurts.

Stories are just stories, I frequented the beta forums every single day and I saw no posts about people losing their entire saves, unless the bug had existed before the DLC.

I'll say this:

This is the least bug filled DLC Bethesda has ever made, and I bug tested extensively. And that was the BETA. It should most likely have less bugs than the beta did upon release, assuming all goes well. As a general rule of thumb, I always make back up saves regardless of the company's reputation, though.

Besides, Bethesda has buggy games because their games are so big, not because they're a bad company or anything. :)

Lol guys I don't mean to slash Bethesda I LOVE them they're my fave game company haha. I'm simply admitting that they do have bugs and it is (admittedly remote) a possibility that the afore mentioned game breaker may happen, this is a better safe than sorry kind of thing :) I remember one post in the general discussion sect a week or so ago, some dude ranting about how the beta corrupted his saves on his 300 hr so character or something along those lines. I just don't wanna see any tears lol As I said before it's a better safe than sorry kind of thing. :)

Dawnguard was fairly solid even before beta testing. If they tackled the bugs we identified, you folks should have a smooth ride.
