No words when I read books

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 8:42 pm

So when I open books notes, etc. (anything in the book category or anything you select to read) I can't see any words or pictures or nothing. It's just blank.

Anyone else have this problem?

Running the game through Steam, 64 bit OS.

In the Steam games library right click on Skyrim, then go to Properties > Local content > Verify game cache.

This ensures you have all the files and that they are uncorrupt. Steam will automatically redownload any corrupt/missing files. Then you can try again and see if books have words.

Alright I've just validated the game files successfully. Still no words. Maybe the problem is that I'm running my game off of my secondary hard drive, and my OS on my SSD. Perhaps the game is storing the files on my SSD in some documents or something and can't get to them? I have no idea. But does anyone think they know how to fix this issue?

No the game files are all in the Steam directory. The only files that would be elsewhere are saves and some preferences files, which would be in your user documents.

I'm not sure what else would cause this. You could also try defragmenting the files (Same place) or starting a new game and finding a book. Though that would take a while.

I'll start a new game and see if I can read books.

Alright. The reason is I thinking perhaps something in the save file got corrupted and so you no longer see text. Though I'm not sure what in the save would do that...

What mods are you using? (if any)
I recall there is a mod that causes this, but i cannot currently get on Skyrim Nexus to check which one it was.

EDIT:
Found the mod... http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=881.
If you're using that mod , its normal.

Well I've started a new game and read the first book I could find, to no avail. Still no words.

I have no mods installed except for better faces and better bodies.

I am having exactly the same problem.

I have no mods, and the problem has JUST started even tho I am into lvl 14.

I have posted a thread and received no help.

I have checked the integrity of the files and defragged.

I have submitted an e-mail to Bethesda support.

I really hope I can get an answer and I amazed no one else has had this problem!
