Ex-World of Warcraft Players Thread

Post » Tue Jan 29, 2013 6:43 am

I am a former WoW player. Played since BC was released through Cataclysm. When Panda Land was announced, I just knew I had to dump the game. I could no longer take it, or myself, seriously, had I continued playing...and paying.

WoW was my first computer game experience, and for a long time, I absolutely loved it. But once Cata hit, I started feeling the first pangs of boredom. Grinding dailies for rep. Killing and skinning crocs for gold. Unsatisfying raid experiences. Idiots in trade chat. A shrinking server population to the point where Horde had almost entirely transferred off. The continued dumbing down of the game. The way they killed world PVP. Players just languishing in Stormwind doing nothing. Unable to attack cities because of too many guards, on foot and in the sky.

Then the comedy Panda thing hit, and I quit, removed it from my computer and washed my hands.

But for the last year, there's been a void. A void made all the more difficult because I have a Mac. My gaming options are close to nil. I knew Elder Scrolls had a great reputation, so when I heard about ESO, that it would be Mac-friendly, and that I wouldn't need a monster machine to run it, I've been going bananas delving into the lore of ES, checking out tons of videos, I've signed up for Beta.

I feel like this game can be my entrance back into an immersive fantasy world, but one that is a total mystery to me, and I love the thought of it.

ESO seems like it will address some of the things about WoW that svcked. It also seems less cartoony, and geared towards a slightly more mature crowd?

Anyway, I'm rambling on here...

Any former WoW players feel a similar anticipation for ESO?

What made you quit WoW?

What race in ESO do you think you might roll first?

Well, you're missing out, Pandaria is way better than Cataclysm.

VVoVV died to me after Cata as vvell, it doesnt help that hitting max lvl and gear vvan't even that big of a deal. And at max lvl pfft alts alts alts. But yeah ESO is going to absolutely cream VVoVV (Dunno vvhy VVoVV is even live anymore honetly vvith non monthly pay games and even completely free games out there that are better). As for rce and class gonna stick to my tried and true Khajiit Assassin. You can't kill him if you're allready dead after all =)

I played WoW for 4 years and quit shortly after Cata, as it just felt tedious and boring.

I've played other MMO's and am currently playing GW2 on and off. Whenever bored as this MMO is a bit lacking.
And I have not found another MMO that I have played for longer than a year.

I've played all Elder Scrolls from Morrowind and have always loved those games and am a major fan.
So Iam hoping this will be a long term MMO for me and not just something to play when bored and waiting for other games.

Iam still not sure about my TESO race. It depends on how the character models look. But Bosmer, Argonian and Breton are my faves.
