Worst Injuries

What are the worst injuries you have ever gotten?

Right now, I have 9 staples in my head from a wakeboard accident. The gash is on the left side of the top of my skull, about 2 1/2 inches long and all the way down to the skull. I'm just happy my skull wasn't fractured and I didn't suffer any serious brain trauma. Poured blood into a bacteria filled lake and held a towel to my head as I was taken to the dock and straight into an ambulance.

Happened around 7 last night, waited 5 hours in the emergency room, holding bloody gauze over my cracked open head to stop it from gushing any more blood, until I finally got numbed up and stapled. Not going there again. Now I have dried blood all in half of my hair that I can't wash out till tomorrow morning.

Also, in 2010 I had an accident longboarding I uprooted the spot where the ACL is anchored to the tibia, meaning the the ACL stayed intact, albeit severely stretched as well as some torn miniscus, but the bone it was attached to came off in a chunk. They had to drill through the tibia and reanchor it with metal wire. Luckily it was done using minimally invasive incisions and a camera, so I only have 3 tiny scars as opposed to one long one.

Well if you count the birth accident that left me with a speech impairment.....if not then the time I cut my head open on a ceiling fan (bunk beds + having to piss = BAD)

I do have a nasty crooked finger due to it breaking and not healing right: http://www.ipicit.net/picit/1368906964.9843.iPicit.jpg

I got 8 stitches for the cutting of my head.
Finger is still crooked.
And my Speech impairment has improved since I was young, but it is still noticible.

Was the finger not splinted? That's odd.

I was going to say scraqed knee, but my line was taken, so I'll go with scraqed elbow instead. It was actually more damaged than my kness because I still have a scar.

No life-threatening injuries, I'm afraid. Not even a broken bone. My life is so unexciting.

Nothing particularly exciting. I stuck a garden fork right through my foot once because I aimed it at the ground and missed. Hurrr.

That picture in the OP looks quite ouchie.

Summer of 2004. A time of year I'll never forget.

I was riding home on my bicycle from work really fast, and I hit a tree root that was sticking out of the ground. I flipped off the front of the bike and landed hard on the ground. Scrapped the hell out of the right side of my face, and had a nasty gash on my left shoulder, still got the scar today. Some people were around and were all ooooOOOoo and "oh [censored]" at the impact. I was on ground for about 2 minutes before I got up.

I thought nothing serious happened to me other than the scraqes, until 4 days later, I got excruciating pain in my lower back and neck. This would gradually get worse as months past to the point where I couldn't turn my neck. Sitting down was hell, and there was no way I could lift anything under my own power.

I went to see a chiropractor, and while he initially did not wont to show me my x-ray, I wanted to see it anyway because I was curious what was going on with my neck and back.

The result from the fall [censored] my spine up, and my neck which is supposed to be "curved" when viewed from the side, was in a solid straight line, this is why I had hell turning it. I have severe scoliosis. I was under physical therapy for 6 months, with no improvements. Until my doctor was out one day and his assistant was filling in. After the putting me in a pretzel session was over, I cried in pain, but then seconds later, that excruciating pain was gone and I was only left with "bearable" back pain that I have 24/7 today.

This was a turning point in my life for I have a lot of strength but my back controls how much I can use it. I was a 22 year old, asking people to help me lift things I used to lift by myself. Sometimes I am stubborn and go beyond the limits my back placed on me, and I pay for it the next day, but all is "good" days later when I take it easy.

And since that day, I'm an advocate for Green Zone lifting.
